Mexican Matchups: Games of November 13

A walkoff for Culiacan.  A close win for Navojoa.  Excellent pitching for Hermosillo.

CULIACAN 5, LOS MOCHIS 3 IN CULIACAN (11 INNINGS)

Twins:  Eric Farris was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs for Culiacan.

Los Mochis:  Brian Burgamy (Mets) was 2-for-5 with a double and a run.  Emmanuel Avila was 1-for-4 with a double and a run.  Edwin Salas pitched two perfect innings.

Culiacan:  Issmael Salas was 3-for-5 with a two-run homer, his third.  Rico Noel (San Diego) was 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs.  Hector Daniel Rodriguez (Atlanta) pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts.

The game:  Burgamy scored on a sacrifice fly in the sixth to tie it 3-3.  There was no more scoring until the eleventh, when Issmael Salas hit a two-run walkoff homer with one out.

NAVOJOA 4, MAZATLAN 3 IN NAVOJOA

Mazatlan:  Olmo Rosario was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Heber Gomez was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Jesus Barraza pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a walk with one strikeout.

Navojoa:  Rolando Acosta was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, his second.  Tim Fedorowicz (Dodgers) was 1-for-2 with a home run and two walks, scoring twice.  Hector Velazquez pitched four innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks with one strikeout.

The game:  Navojoa led 3-0 early, but Mazatlan got two in the fifth and Rosario doubled in a run in the sixth to tie the score.  Carlos Orrantia singled in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth and Mazatlan did not get a hit after that.

HERMOSILLO 4, JALISCO 0 IN HERMOSILLO

Jalisco:  Hugo Castellanos struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up a walk.

Hermosillo:  Adan Munoz was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.  Sebastian Elizalde (Cincinnati) was 1-for-3 with a double and a run.  Juan Pablo Oramas (San Diego) struck out seven in six shutout innings, allowing one hit and one walk.

The game:  Hermosillo scored two in the first and it was all they needed.  Jalisco had only two hits, both singles.
