  1. My shift starts just two and a half hours before kickoff, and will end about the time the game ends. I'll set the over-under on total number of customers served today at 3.5.

    1. We're here till 6 tonight. I'm guessing there will be almost no one coming in after about 3.

  2. Greetings from the windy blizzardy city. Here's my view from the hotel:

Kinda feeling like I can check out anytime I like . . . but I can never leave.

  3. @Free, DPWY, et al.

Project “Move To Minneapolis For A Girl, Seriously, Dude, Think With Your Head, Not Genitals" has found a place at 50th and Aldrich. Seeing as how y'all live nearby, thoughts on the general area are appreciated.

    1. That’s a very nice neighborhood. Mostly residential, but with plenty of interesting stuff nearby. And it’s probably one of the safest areas in the city.

There are a number of nice restaurants in the vicinity (Cafe Ena, Patisserie 46, Kings Wine Bar, the Malt Shop, all of the Broders restaurants) and you have easy access to a very nice (though moderately overpriced) grocery store on 54th and Lyndale, with a liquor store just across the street. You’re also super close to the Minnehaha Parkway (my favorite bike path in the city) and Lake Harriet, which connects to Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles.

If you’re gonna be using public transportation, there should be several bus lines that run nearby on Lyndale, Bryant, and 50th. It's also reasonably close to Uptown, where Aaron Gleeman and I live (I’m actually on 30th and Aldrich). There aren’t really any bars in the neighborhood, but there are a ton in Uptown as well as shopping, restaurants, etc. Getting downtown will take a bit longer on the bus, but it’s only about a 20 minute drive. You’re also near the Southdale area of Edina, which has several malls, a very nice movie theater, a Target, whatever you need.

        1. Yeah, same. It's a great part of town.

Also of probable interest to Mags: there is a British pub being built nearby (on 40th and Lyndale) that will probably show soccer games and will definitely have an outdoor bocce ball court. I don't know when it will open, but it sounds like it will be awesome.

    2. I don't live anywhere near the area, but having done some quick research I can say that you are a 20 minute drive to one of the two curling clubs in the area.

(Also, if you're moving to Minnesota, then I think you definitely need to come down to Madison for a spiel.)
