  1. Wild Playoff Watch: Clinching Edition

    They're in!

The Wild won 2-1 over Chicago, and that's all they needed.

As it stands, the Wild are in the first Wild Card, and so would play the division leader with the least points. The top of the conference looks like so:

Anaheim - 107 pts (2 gms left) - Anaheim clinches the #1 seed with a non-shootout win tonight against Dallas
St. Louis - 105 pts (2 gms left)
    Nashville - 104 pts (2 gms left)
    Chicago - 102 pts (2 gms left)

There is a mathematical chance of the Wild catching the Blackhawks for third in the division, but it requires the Hawks to lose their next two in regulation, while the Wild beat both Nashville and St. Louis on the road.

To clinch the first Wild Card, the Wild need one win or a Winnipeg regulation loss in any of the remaining games.

      1. Pretty much exactly that. Through ~50 minutes of hockey, I was sure the collapse was in full swing because Minnesota Sports.

        1. I was a little worried in the second, but the Wild responded, despite being on the back end of back-to-backs.

    1. I had the alarm set for 4:00 because I was heading up north. Just to be safe, I woke up at 2:30 and laid in bed awake for 1:30 before hauling my tired butt up. Ugh.

  2. Today is a good day to go home from the hospital. I woke up Monday feeling vaguely sick and run down. That evening I started feeling a burning in my chest. By the time Duke took their second half lead, I knew it was time for an ER trip. The good news - angina pain, not a heart attack. The bad news - another mostly blocked coronary artery, one that was 60% blocked three years ago was more like 90%. So yesterday afternoon I was in the cath lab getting another stent. Feeling much better today except for a sore groin where they insert the wire catheter into the femoral artery. This time I actually got to be awake for the procedure, which was kind of cool. But trust me, you don't want to go there if you don't have to. On the bright side, I get to watch the Twins today and the Masters first round tomorrow.

    1. Thank goodness for sports on TV...without 'em, you wouldn't have a bright side!

  3. That email that ends with "if this continues, I'll be forced to run this up the ladder" with "up the ladder" already cc'ed on it.

      1. Yeah, tonight works at pretty much any time. Just send me an email when you're ready.

      2. This LTE reminded me that I lost all memory of having a cribbage tournament over the Easter weekend.
        Crap.
        Tonight, DP?

        1. This LTE reminded me that I should think about figuring out who I'm supposed to be playing, and then blame that person for not contacting me yet.

    1. My most favorite of passive aggressive office activities. Especially when I've done everything right and they just do not like my answer.

  4. This might have been lost yesterday seeing as how it was in the no low traffic zone of the daily video post, but what you can embed in LTEs dramatically increased yesterday. What would interest most citizens is using a Twitter or YouTube URL on its own line will turn into an embed now. The full list is available here. Note these also apply to posts (they've always been available there).

  5. Last night's culinary adventure: after going top shelf for lunch and since the mrs had a 5 pm massage, we went casual for dinner. Within walking distance of our hotel is a strip mall that features La Taquiza Fish Tacos.

Yelp reviews claim it is "Michelin recommended." I can believe. I had a baja fish taco and a grilled octopus taco, the mrs a baja and a "California" fish taco (grilled rather than deep fried). The grilled fish was good, the baja were excellent and generous (each was four bucks, ala carte), and the octopus world-class.

Seriously. Grilled so it was smokey and lightly charred, toothsome but not tough, very meaty. A memorable taco.

  6. So, E-Bay.

I'm selling an item. Someone sold the exact same item three weeks ago. Set the auction at 9.99, had a crazy bidding war that wound up with the guy getting sixty bucks.

I have the SAME ITEM. I duplicate, more or less, the other guy's auction. I get one bid, for 9.99. Ugh.

    1. My one eBay selling experience resulted in a lame duck buyer. I was so disappointed I didn't even bother with re-listing it.

    2. I had an item 'sell' for 99 ish dollars recently that the buyer refused to pay for. I had several bids, and when I offered it up to the second chance bidder for 74.95, his last bid, they declined. I re-listed the item and got 29.99 with a single bidder. Yeah, I was shaking my head too.

    3. I'm a semi-frequent bidder, I often see tunnel vision on the part of other bidders. They'll get locked in on one item when there are 2 or 3 (or tons of the) similar/same items that get almost completely ignored. The need to compete is strong, I guess. Meanwhile, I do a little extra research, and with a little patience, get things for much less.

  7. As featured on the bookface, I am currently enjoying a bottle of this, courtesy of my friend the Fruit Doctor. Mmmm. Definitely green tea aroma, mixed in with a typically Stone blast of hops.

  8. Opening Day, ESPN had Red Sox- Phillies
    Tonight, Red Sox - Phillies
Sunday Night, Red Sox - Yankees

    some things never change.

    1. Sarah Wreisner, over at CdL, has talked to me extensively about being stalked and it's horrifying. I've never said anything to anyone else about it, but she's the third commenter down on that page so she's obviously pretty open about it. I suppose exposing these idiots is a much more satisfying conclusion than to stay quiet.

  9. Im done with Flip the Coach

    Ben Golliver @BenGolliver

Flip Saunders on Andrew Wiggins: "You don't want [three-pointers] to become a major part of his game." Don't know whether to groan or cry
