  1. Taylor Rogers is off to a good start for Rochester, striking out four in four innings and giving up only one hit. The game is scoreless. Cedar Rapids and Kane County are tied at one in the first.

      1. I reacted so angrily that Sheenie suggested I just mute them for the rest of the season.

      2. I'm on radio. Dazzle mentioned Arcia getting high fives in the dugout, but also suggested that if he'd run hard out of the box he might have beaten it out.

        1. Bert made the same comment about Arcia's hustle. Dick was the one DG quoted.

        2. Bert was actually getting on Arcia for not running out of the box, but still praised the 'good at bat'

          1. It was a good at-bat for the guy making contact with two strikes. I have no problem with that. Calling it the key to the inning is silly. It's still smart to try to pull the ball so that if you make an out you still get the guy over. You still want to try to get a hit. Better yet, hit it as far as you can to right. The guy can tag and move over still and maybe you hit it out of the park. With two strikes, though, you just try to make contact and not worry about placement.

    1. Yeah, although Tommy Milone is the Twins' best starter with a career ERA+ of 98. Hughes is at 97 and I'm guessing it's worse as a starter. Hopefully, the adjustments he made last year weren't a mirage.

      1. No matter what happens, Alexei Ramirez just had their most important at bat of the inning.

    1. Honestly, it is hee-lair-e-us that this dude was complaining in the media about his role. He should be thanking his lucky stars that he got a set-for-life contract from the Twins in the first place. He's just about the last guy who should be complaining. I mean that.

  2. Another one of those "it could have been worse" innings. But, we still have the lead!

    1. I couldn't see it, but that has to be a really tough play for the third baseman to step on the base and make an accurate throw home around the runner going from third.

      1. It helped that Abreu looked like he was giving LeCroy a piggy-back ride while running to home plate.

  3. I understand why they probably won't do it, but if the Twins want to win today, they need to get Pelfrey out of there.

  4. Provus and Dazzle keep referencing Pelf's pitch count. I really don't think that's going to be much of an issue today.

  5. Red Wings are in a scoreless tie with Buffalo going to the ninth. Taylor Rogers gave up six hits in seven shutout innings, but Rochester has only one hit, a Josmil Pinto single.

  6. The Kernels lead Kane County 5-1 going to the sixth. Stephen Gonsalves has struck out eight through five innings. Zach Granite is 2-for-2 with a double and a walk. Nick Gordon is 0-for-2 but has driven in two runs.

  7. SSST, but coming into today, the Twins starters were 28th in ERA, 27th in FIP, and 29th in xFIP. Pelfrey not helping that.

      1. Just because it's SSST doesn't mean it won't end up being consistent with a larger sample size. It just means it's too early to make conclusions from it.

  8. First period of Wild-Blues was ... not terribly interesting. No power plays and shots were only 7-1 in favor of the Wild.

Not many whistles though, so it was quick.

  9. Josmil Pinto collects both Red Wings hits, but the second one was a walkoff two-run homer with two out in the bottom of the ninth and Rochester wins 2-0!

  10. Meanwhile, Cedar Rapids continues to lead Kane County 5-1 going to the eighth. Stephen Gonsalves struck out nine in six innings, giving up one run on five hits and no walks.

  11. For all the talk about Pelf, it should be noted that the Twins offense has done nothing since the second inning. Only two hits and none since the fourth.

  12. It's still early, but Molitor seems to be much more willing to let relievers go more than one inning than Gardy was.

  13. Really shoddy backcheck by the Wild there on all three goals. 3-1 Blues after two and it looks like the Wild will get a division winner in the first round.

        1. He really made no sense from the beginning. He's had a couple of decent years where he pitched forty innings or fewer, but there's nothing in his record to indicate he was going to be any good.

      1. Boyer I'm fine with . Signed to minor league deal and pitched better than kids with limited experience. Hopefully, he's on short leash and we'll get the best of power arms up here soon. It's Stauffer that made no sense. He's not much better than Boyer, and he's on a guaranteed deal. He should have been the one out there in that situation today, but he wasn't any good in the spring and hasn't been better as the season goes. I'm hoping he'll be on a short leash as well, but the guaranteed money will probably make the Twins slower to act.

        1. Stauffer has had far more major league success than Boyer. Which doesn't mean that either of them will be any good, of course.

  14. Provus, can we not use the shadows as an excuse? The Twins have done nothing on offense since the second inning.

    1. How about Samard... (too lazy to look it up) for seven and the shadows for the final 2. Or at least for the eighth since Robertson is very good too.

  15. Cedar Rapids held on to defeat Kane County 5-3. The Cougars scored two unearned runs in the ninth and had the tying run on base with two out.

    1. If Anaheim wins in regulation or overtime -- The Wild get the Blues in the first round.
If that doesn't happen -- The Wild get the Ducks in the first round.
