  1. Wild Playoff Watch: Playoff Edition

The playoff matchups are as follows.

    1-ANA v. 8-WPG
    P2-VAN v. P3-CGY

    2-STL v. 7-MIN
    C2-NSH v. C3-CHI

    1-NYR v. 8-PIT
    M2-WSH v. M3-NYI

    2-MTL v. 7-OTT
    A2-TB v. A3-DET

Two all-Canadian matchups, and no Bruins or Kings. The Wild end up in the Central Division section of the conference which means they might get a rematch with the Blackhawks (again) if they progress.

    -------------------------

    SCHEDULE (times are Central):

    Thursday (4/16) - @St. Louis, 8:30 PM, NBCSN
    Saturday (4/18) - @St. Louis, 2:00 PM, NBC
    Monday (4/20) - @Minnesota, 7:00 PM, CNBC
    Wednesday (4/22) - @Minnesota, 8:30 PM, NBCSN
    Friday (4/24) - @St. Louis
    Sunday (4/26) - @Minnesota
    Wednesday (4/29) - @St. Louis

    1. 8:30 Central starts are dumb. NBC has five networks for the NHL playoffs.

I really didn't have a preference between the Ducks and the Blues. Neither is a great match up for the Wild based on size. Both have question marks in goal. Let's go!

  2. Maybe they're upset over taxes. Found out yesterday we have to pay a whole lot of money to the state because of an inheritance that had nothing withheld for state taxes. Plus another $23 because not enough was withheld for state taxes.

      1. I think it's college financial aid packages.

Let's just say that the Girl's college seems to think that they should get ALL of our "expected family contribution" rather than ~half. #firstworldproblems #fancypantscolleges

    1. How is it that, using the exact same numbers, two different tax programs (turbo & HandRbloc) can come up with such different (and equally dismaying) numbers?
How is that an individual with a degree in finance & MBA from a highly regarded business school can be so befuddled by the tax code that, despite fairly rigorous planning, a family can still be blindsided by a savings-demolishing tax bill!?
Don't get me started on taxes.

      1. I'm perplexed why both state and federal returns were accepted two weeks ago, yet neither has withdrawn the money we owe.

  3. Will Carroll writes Positive Tests Show Positive Changes for MLB Testing

That also means it’s possible we will see more positive tests, especially for minor leaguers that report later. Some will inevitably color this as a failing for baseball, but as we’ve seen, MLB’s testing program has not just caught up with those trying to cheat, it’s actually ahead of them for the first time. The temptation will always be there for players, but catching some like this will make most think twice before trying a banned substance.

  4. Two series into the new season and already my exuberant expectations of mediocrity have been crushed. There's going to be a severe puppy shortage this year.

  5. Yankees - Red Sox on ESPN (shocked). its quarter to 10 , and its only the bottom of the 6th inning (shocked). a 12-4 score doesnt help, but the Twins could give up that many runs in under 3 hours!
