Game 17: Twins @ Mariners

The good news is that we don't have to watch our favorite team take on Felix Hernandez any more in this series.

Trevor May (1-1 4.76 ERA, 3.04 FIP)
vs.
James Paxton (0-1 8.40 ERA, 4.64 FIP)

I should really do xFIP, but I'm about to go run some errands, and I can't be arsed to do anything other than a quick bbref lookup. It looks like this Paxton fellow has been almost as good as Hughes at keeping the ball on the correct side of the outfield fence. I'd expect that to change.

On that note: the Twins as a team have 8 home runs. Nelson Cruz has 9.

    1. Screaming liner back at the mound, looks like it hit May in the elbow/back of the arm (on the follow through of his pitch) and he has to leave the game.

Why cant the Twins have nice things?

  1. I like the decision to send Dozier there. A good throw makes it a close play, but forcing them to make good plays is an important thing.

  2. Joe Mauer sneakily creeping up on 700 career RBI. That is 10 or 11th on the Twins list, depending how you want to count Bob Allison's ~130 for the Senators.

Trevor May left with right elbow contusion. The X-rays were negative and he will be listed as day-to-day. #MNTwins

    that is good news.

  4. Nunez tagged up from 2nd to 3rd, but the most amazing this is that his batting helmet stayed on his head.

  5. I hope Molly rolls with this Shane Robinson guy for a bit and leaves Schafer on the bench.

  6. Good thing Phil Hughes pitched a CG last night. Molly going to churn throw all the bullpen tonight.

Opposing hitters are now batting .342/.366/.605 against Blaine Boyer this season.

  8. Okay, cool. I watched the last three or four innings, but just couldn't find anything worth bringing up. Uh...go Twins. Puppies, and such.
