Minor Details: Games of May 26

Red Wings pitchers come through in a bullpen game, but they don't get enough offense.  Stephen Gonsalves is awesome in a Kernel win.

DURHAM 2, ROCHESTER 1 IN DURHAM

Batting stars:  James Beresford was 2-for-4 with a double.  Danny Ortiz was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.

Pitching stars:  Lester Oliveros struck out four in 3.1 innings, giving up one run on two hits and two walks.  Logan Darnell struck out four in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk.  Casey Fien pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

The game:  Two singles and a sacrifice fly produced a Red Wings run and a 1-0 lead in the third.  Two walks and Motter's double tied it in the fifth and Brown homered leading off the seventh to put the Bulls up 2-1.  The Red Wings got a man to second in the sixth, seventh, and ninth but did not advance him.

Of note:  Oswaldo Arcia was 0-for-3 with an RBI.  Kennys Vargas was 0-for-4, dropping his average to .346, so he'll probably stay in Rochester another month.  Eric Farris was 1-for-4.

The game:  Emulating the big club, the Kernels jumped out front early, scoring three times in the first inning.  Vavra had an RBI double in the inning and Fernandez had a run-scoring single.  Three walks and a sacrifice fly produced another run in the fourth.  Meanwhile, Gonsalves struck out the first four batters and eight of the first nine.  The lone Timber Rattlers run came in the sixth on a walk, two errors, and a single.  Kernels pitchers struck out sixteen in the game.
