Minor Details: Games of June 9

Danny Santana makes his season debut in Rochester.  Adam Brett Walker II hits his sixteenth and Jose Berrios has a good game in a Lookouts sweep.  An eight-run inning carries the DSL Twins.

INDIANAPOLIS 5, ROCHESTER 4 IN ROCHESTER

Batting stars:  Danny Ortiz was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Danny Santana was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.  Doug Bernier was 1-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Pitching stars:  Caleb Thielbar retired all four batters he faced, striking out one.  Michael Tonkin struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Brent Morel was 3-for-4 with a home run (his third) and two runs.  Elias Diaz was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.  Mel Rojas, Jr. was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

The game:  A three-run second put the Red Wings up 3-1.  It was 3-2 through five, but Diaz had a two-run single in a three-run Indians third that gave them a 5-3 advantage.  The Red Wings loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the sixth, but scored only once to cut the lead to 5-4.  They had only one hit after that.

Of note:  James Beresford was 1-for-5.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 0-for-4 with a walk.  Oswaldo Arcia was 2-for-4.  Josmil Pinto was 1-for-4 with a run.  Taylor Rogers pitched 5.2 innings, giving up five runs on nine hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

CHATTANOOGA 6, JACKSON 2 IN JACKSON (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

Batting stars:  Adam Brett Walker II was 2-for-3 with a home run (his sixteenth) and a double, scoring twice and driving in four.  Max Kepler was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.  Byron Buxton was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs.

Pitching star:  Jose Berrios pitched 6.1 innings, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts.

Opposition stars:  Jordy Lara was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs.  D. J. Peterson was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

The game:  The Lookouts led 2-1 after four and Walker II hit a two-run homer in the fifth to make it 4-1.  Walker II had an RBI double and Kepler a run-scoring triple in the seventh to make it 6-1.  The Generals opened the seventh with three singles to make it 6-2 but their next three batters were retired.

Of note:  Jorge Polanco was 0-for-2 with two walks.  Miguel Sano was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs.

CHATTANOOGA 3, JACKSON 2 IN JACKSON (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

Batting stars:  Mike Gonzales was 1-for-3 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Byron Buxton was 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI.  Heiker Meneses was 2-for-3.

Pitching stars:  Tim Shibuya pitched three shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks with one strikeout.  Madison Boer pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and striking out one.  J. T. Chargois had his fourth scoreless outing since coming to AA, pitching a perfect inning with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Daniel Paolini was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer (his second) and a double.  Andrew Kittredge struck out three in three shutout innings, allowing one hit and three walks.

The game:  The Lookouts scored all three of their runs in the fourth inning, getting a two-run double from Gonzales and an RBI single by Buxton.  The Generals got both of their runs in the sixth on Paolini's two-run homer.  They did not get the tying run on base.

Of note:  Miguel Sano was 0-for-3.  Adam Brett Walker II was 0-for-3.  Max Kepler was 0-for-2 with a walk and a run.

FORT MYERS AT LAKELAND

Rained out.  The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.

DSL TWINS 9, DSL METS1 6 AT METS1

Batting stars:  Emmanuel Morel was 3-for-5 with two triples and a walk, scoring twice.  Jorge Munoz was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in three.  Jean Carlos Arias was 3-for-4 with a triple and a walk, scoring once and driving in two.

PItching stars:  Miguel De Jesus struck out eight in three shutout innings, giving up four hits.  Brusdar Graterol struck out four in three innings, giving up one run on four hits.

Opposition stars:  Juan Uriarte was 3-for-5 with two RBIs.  Domingo Martinez was 2-for-5 with a home run.  Rafael Encarnacion struck out four in three shutout innings, allowing three hits and a walk.

The game:  Each team scored once in the first.  It stayed 1-1 until the seventh, when the Twins had an eight-run inning.  The Twins batted thirteen men in the inning, which featured two triples, five singles, three walks, and an error.  The Mets1 came back with four in the bottom of the seventh to cut the lead to 9-5.  They added another run in the ninth but did not threaten to tie the score.

Of note:  Jorge Parra was 1-for-4 with a walk.  Antonio Tovar was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once.
