Game 60: Twins at Rangers. 7:10pm

The Twins are in a bit of a tailspin at the moment losing 5 of the last 6 games. I still have faith that the ship will right itself and we will be back in first place in no time.

Wandy Rodriguez pitches for the Rangers. Tommy Milone for the Twins. Will we get "strike everyone out like in AAA" Tommy or "12 walks to 13 strikeouts in the Majors" Tommy . I hope its the AAA guy.

  1. Lester Oliveros was ejected from the Red Wings game in the first inning after hitting someone in the head with a pitch following back-to-back home runs. The Red Wings are down 4-0 in the bottom of the first and haven't retired a batter yet.

    1. Add it to the media library! I would love Citizen submitted photos of every ballpark to supplement the ones from flickr.

      1. The large version's dimensions are nearly perfect for a featured image so I added it to the media library.

      1. Gladden notes that this is the first time in the month of June the Twins have scored in the first inning.

      1. With Milone pitching, I'll take some generous strikes. Besides, now that Gardy's gone, maybe Hunter Wendlestedt will give us some calls.

  2. Mauer has played enough first base by now that an error like that shouldn't happen.

  3. Gladden is such a second-guesser sometimes. He's criticizing Rosario for having swung at the first pitch in his first at-bat. Yet, when someone gets a hit on the first pitch, Gladden always praises him for being aggressive. Heads I win, tails you lose.

  4. Twins continue to look overmatched. Milone better throw a shutout, because it sure looks like one run is all he's going to get.

  5. Three new sets from Topps this month; a couple nice former players have autos coming out that I don't have, and I snagged one of them. Next week I'll see if there is any amenable pork...

    1. I was griping to my friend that he was coming into a tight game. He's a leaky gas can. I have no idea why he wasn't non-tendered two years ago. He's awful.

  6. That sucked, but if the Twins keep getting starting pitching like this, they will be doing great. Their offense probably won't be as good as it was in May, but it probably won't be as bad as it has been in June either. At least hopefully Dozier and Plouffe are getting it going again.

    1. The trouble is that before long, Nolasco and Santana will take two spots in the rotation, probably replacing Milone and May. I'm afraid that will be subtraction by addition.

      1. That's a very bad indictment on the Twins' front office if we really need to be worried about putting over $100M worth of pitchers in the rotation, but I get what you're saying. FWIW, Nolasco has the same FIP as May, which is the best for the starting pitchers. Milone's FIP on the season has been awful. Before tonight, Malone was the worst of the starters in giving up HRs and walks as well as the worst at striking out batters.
