  1. So after attending Saturday's game, I can check "Wrigley Field" off of my list of ballpark experiences. I swear the place was majority "Cubbies" fans, especially lower level. Creepy.

    1. I was listening to the game, and I had to remind myself that the Twins were at home. Every time I heard the crowd cheering, I thought something good happened... nope.

    2. I had the same experience yesterday. Granted, there was nothing for the Twins to cheer about.

My section was by the right field pole and we had several Torii worshippers. One guy even had a Torii article he cut from the newspaper and kept looking at it and holding it like it was his diploma.

  2. Had my parents in town this weekend. Dad and I spent Father's Day together with Miss SBG. Then, they took off and we took Miss SBG to the skating rink, where she started working on some new elements. She's now doing things like "toe loop" and "Salchow" and "Lutz" that I had heard of before she ever started skating. Believe it or not, Women's Figure Skating is a sport that I have a lot of interest in now. These girls work hard. My daughter is in a jump class and a core strengthening class, in addition to several hours on the ice. She's eight. I love watching girls at all levels of skating and when I'm in the arena, I really look to see who are good skaters and who aren't.

    Life is funny.

    1. I didn't leave it on the bus!
(Unlike my last umbrella, unlike my binoculars on Friday.)

    2. I did not see you, but I saw your bus and decided to focus on getting where there was less rain rather than determining if you de-boarded there.

          1. I saw you on Marquette; I was on a different numbered bus entirely! (The reasons for this are actually quite mundane, but it was fortuitous as far as spycraft went.)

          1. Some of the rhetoric about Hunter was over the top, but the idea that he was going to be a good player for the Twins was wishful thinking.

    1. nd a poll of active baseball players by ESPN The Magazine this past winter voted Bryce Harper as the league’s most overrated player for the second consecutive year. Harper, hitting .344/.476/.720 this year, seems unlikely to make it to a three-peat.

Obviously, if you haven't played the game, you don't know how to evaluate talent.

  3. A few sports-related shots in this week's Invisibles Quiz. Seemed easier than usual to me. Only ones I couldn't get were 5 and 8, and it seems like I should know 5, but couldn't quite place it. The ones I got were...

    1. #7 was the only one I didn't have, besides #5 & #8.

Thanks for running with this; I've had too many other irons in the fire, so I'm more than happy to hand Invisibles off.

      1. 7 took me a couple tries, but clicked immediately once I started thinking about that genre.

And I'm happy to keep it up since I enjoy them, glad I wasn't stepping on toes by jumping in. If I think of it on Monday and don't see a post, I'll add one.

    1. In fifth & sixth grade my closest friend was blind. He lived out in the country, and his grandfather would kind of do anything he asked him to do. He came to pick us all up to run to the store or something, and on the way back he let my friend's 6 year old brother steer the car, and then let my blind friend behind the wheel. It was an empty gravel road, and his grandfather was there just in case, but to this day it's still one of the moments I was the most fearful of my life during.

      1. You know, I am ok with this scenario. Probably less likely to shoot someone accidentally than is true of many slack-jawed yokel or dudebro hunters.

But a gun for "personal protection," not so much.

        1. Was mostly pointing to the 'omg, not an easy task fully sighted' portion of the story.

  4. Watching USA-Columbia on tape. Spoiler for Spoons.

    1. I forgot to mention on account of being in the hospital, but my brother went to the US/Nigeria game on the 16th. He said it was a great time.
