Minor Details: Games of July 14

Most minor leagues took yesterday off due to the major league all-star game.  The GCL Twins dominate in a victory.  The DSL Twins lose in the ninth inning.

GCL TWINS 11, GCL RAYS 1 AT RAYS

Batting stars:  Bryant Hayman was 1-for-4 with a grand slam and a walk, scoring twice.  Jermaine Palacios was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Trey Cabbage was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring twice and driving in one.

Pitching stars:  Lachlan Wells struck out five in five shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks.  Stephen Pryor pitched two shutout innings with one strikeout.  Callan Pearce pitched a scoreless inning with one walk and one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Ryan Caldwell was 1-for-3 with a walk.

The game:  Hayman hit a grand slam in the first inning to give the Twins a 4-0 lead.  They led 5-0 through five, then scored six in the sixth to put the game out of reach.  They had only two hits in the inning and were helped by four walks and an error.

Of note:  Luis Arraez was 0-for-4 with a run and an RBI.  Robert Molina was 1-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.

DSL MARINERS1 4, DSL TWINS 2

Batting star:  Junior Amarante was 1-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.

Pitching star:  Andriu Marin pitched four shutout innings, giving up no runs on no hits and no walks with three strikeouts.

Opposition stars:  Anthony Jimenez was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Joseph Rosa was 2-for-4 with a run.  Carlos Herrera struck out eight in seven innings, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk.

The game:  The Mariners1 scored single runs in the first and third to take a 2-0 lead.  Amarante hit a two-run triple in the fourth to tie it 2-2.  It stayed 2-2 until the ninth, when two walks, an error, and a single produced two runs for the Mariners1.  The Twins did not get the tying run on base in the bottom of the ninth.

Of note:  Emmanuel Morel was 1-for-4 with a run.  Gorge Munoz was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Jean Carlos Arias with 1-for-4.  Danny Feliz struck out three in three innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and no walks.
