    1. I tend to get 6 hours each night, seven if I'm lucky. Most of that is my own fault, staying up late playing on the Internet.

  1. Went to pick up some coffee on my way in to work this morning. My card was declined. Checked my account when I got to my office, see two charges to Petro Canada. Call my bank, there are two more, including one in Alabama. They preemptively shut down my card, which explains why it was declined.

Second time in a month I've been hit with card fraud. Since I'm uncommonly careful with my card, I'm starting to wonder what the deal is. Changing all my payment information for various services is a huge hassle & time suck that I'm not looking forward to dealing with again.

    1. Meanwhile, Wells Fargo constantly shuts off our card when we go grocery shopping at the grocery store 1 mile away. They say we spend a lot there and it is suspicious. Yet, when we went on a road trip to Vegas and when we went on our cruise to the Caribbean, they never did a thing

      1. My brother and SiL went to Switzerland last month on their honeymoon. They called the bank and everything was set up. Of course, they ran into problems immediately. Evidently, Swiss credit card transactions get routed through Germany to get out of Europe, and the bank was like "Germany? They said Switzerland. Declined!"

I didn't even think to warn them. I've always said when I call my bank that I'm going to "Europe" because of the possibility of something like that, or maybe hey, who wants to take a day-trip to Italy?

        1. Despite making arrangements and telling companies before we went to Spain last year, we found that only one of our cards between the two of us was accepted the entire time. At one point, we were emailing relatives to have them log onto our bank accounts to move money so that the one valid card remained funded.

          1. I called the bank before I headed to norn iron last year and they cut me off because UK. I had to skype the bank, and was greeted by an angry teller who tried to explain that Northern Ireland and Ireland were different countries.

    2. We've never been taken for fraud, and the longer I work in retail, the luckier I consider us to be. Since I deal in higher-dollar sales, I end up having to call the bank a lot to verify the customer, and at least half of those customers say "Yeah, we've had our information stolen before."

    3. Hacked most likely. Not you as not worth the effort, but someone in the chain from where you purchased something up to the bank. I've had fraud happen to me twice. I'm not sure how the first time but the second was almost certainly because of Home Depot.

  2. Maybe Joel Maturi is available. Norwood Teague embarrasses the University of Minnesota, resigns.

      1. As if. He's one of the most powerful men in the NBA. Athletically, Minnesota is a mid-major school in a power five conference member's clothing.

            1. I'm much more positive about Flip as Timberwolves jack of all trades than you are. Mainly because he's the best coach and GM they've ever had.

              1. I'm fairly okay with him as GM. I'd much prefer a different coach. I'm bummed that they didn't get Mike Malone this offseason, but there was no chance that Flip was looking for anyone else.

      2. I wonder how many calls from alumni Wolves fans Flip is getting begging him to step in.

        fixed

    1. Kaler said the Teague will not receive a severance package, but the university may choose to hire him as a consultant in the future -- at $285 per hour -- to assist in fundraising efforts and identify donors for projects he previously managed.

      1. I've been too busy lately to do lunch regardless, but it is doubtful Wednesday will be a good permanent day for the foreseeable future

  3. Cross-posted from the EPL Prediction Contest thread

Of course, new participants are always welcome.

  4. Fangraphs projects the Twins to finish 79-83. What do you think? I'll take the under on that.

    1. I think the projection at the beginning of the year was 72 wins. They're visiting Cleveland next so I'm holding off until that series finishes before feeling too pessimistic about the team.

      1. Right. I'm pretty down on them right now, but they did just play the Blue Jays, who appear that they could make just about any team look bad.

    1. I started calling Sano the anti-Delmon because of his plate discipline and strike zone recognition. I was cautiously optimistic about Sano, but I'm leaning toward wildly optimistic now.

      1. He's often been compared to Miguel Cabrera, but that would be very optimistic. I also kind of think more of a right-handed Prince Fielder. Just out of curiosity, I checked their numbers. Sano had a better career OPS in the minors than either of them. They were both called up at a younger age, but that was mostly because of his elbow injury. Fielder at age 20 in AA had an .839 OPS. Sano at age 20 at AA had .915 in about half a season after having a 1.079 OPS in the first half of the season in the notoriously pitcher-friendly FSL. Cabrera went off at age 20 at AA with a 1.038 OPS before being called up to the Marlins. Prior to that, his best OPS was .754. At age 18 in the Midwest League, Cabrera had a .709 OPS. Sano at age 19 in the Midwest League had an OPS of .893 and his worst OPS at any level was .804. And that was at 17 in the GCL.

  5. In Baseball America Best Tools survey, Molitor was voted third in Best Manager category, Max Kepler was "lauded for his strike zone judgment" and Nick Gordon was voted best defensive shortstop in the Midwest League.
