Game 109 Twins at Cleveland. 6pm

The last few years have seen the Twins free fall into the abyss after the All Star break. I would say it was one of the main reasons Ron Gardenhire lost his job. Can Paul Molitor steady the ship and avoid another 90 loss season?

Perhaps I am being too over dramatic. But getting bullied and bludgeoned by  the Blue Jays the past week has brought up memories of years past. Limping in the Dog Days of Summer and then the Twins being out of the sports picture once football season starts is not the way I wanted this season to go.

The Twins will face the Clevelanders who traded away Nick Swisher and Micheal Bourn to Atlanta. Mike "Do we have to keep watching him pitch?" Pelfey throws for our guys. Cody Anderson throws for the other guys.

  1. Could use a strikeout in the situation, but with Pelfrey on the mound thats probably not going to happen

  2. Work called and I had to fix a thing. How did the Twins score 6? Did Sano hit it over Lake Erie for 6 runs?

  3. Lately, Twins pitchers have been very good at nitpicking and nitpicking and nitpicking and running deep counts....then grooving one.

  4. Jack Morris thinks Pelfrey should go back out there because the Twins have used thier bullpen a lot

WE HAVE A NINE MAN BULLPEN

  5. I wish he would have brought in Duensing to get out of the inning and then let Achter debut later to start an inning. He also let Pelfrey go at least one batter too long. Probably should have had Achter start the inning.

  6. If you dress like clowns, it only makes sense that you'll play likes clowns. I turned it on just in time for the Gomes homer.

  7. Boy, I was hoping this game was going to be a quick Twins win because I am heading out to a party in a little bit.
At the rate this game is going, i am going to miss 15 more runs.

  8. With stints with the Twins, Rockies, and Phillies, Jeff Manship has piled up a -2.0 bWAR . He has a +0.5 bWAR with Cleveland.

  9. Is Jack Morris GOML'ing so badly that he wants pitchers to start headhunting? Ridiculous.

    1. This was the point went I left the game.

Jack Morris is the worst out of all the rotating tv analysts.

      I would go:
Roy Smalley (still rambles on, but he see plays on the field more than any other analyst. Can breaking down hitting mechanics. Seems to do his homework on the opposing team)
Bert (he should probably be reduced to doing 60 or so games a year. Still spouts out the same cliches, but once in a while will offer some keen insight into the art of pitching)
      Run over by bus
Morris (Constantly in GOML mode. Offers no insight into hitting or fielding)

Ive said it a hundred times, I wish FSN would employ an analyst that played the game in this century

  10. I think it's safe to say Achter's second inning went much better than his first. He really should have been allowed to start the previous inning.

  11. On June 7, Pelfrey had a 2.28 ERA. It's now 4.06, which means Gibson is the only current Twins starter with an ERA below 4.00. Milone had a 3.76 ERA but is on the DL.

      1. Actually, I missed Santana. He's a 3.89, so when Milone returns, that will be 3 of the 5, although I think Gibson is the only one better than average.

  12. I miss the days when we hung on seemingly every pitch of the Twins season. Granted, many of us didn't have kids (or as many kids) when the Twins were perennial winners. But not even seeing a Bulldozed! after a game tying homer makes me sad. Also, we don't blow up game logs anymore during a loss. I can't wait to root for a winner again.

    1. In fairness, I wanted to, but my phone was out of reach, and the little one was eating pretty well, and u didn't want to mess with his flow.
