  1. Cory and Dan are talking a lot about Sano's strikeouts. I hope that's not going to become a thing. We know he's going to strike out a lot. He's always struck out a lot. There's no point in fussing about it.

  2. Bremer : "Lets see is the Twins ask Escobar to bunt"

Escobar promptly scalds a liner to the OF for a RBI single.

  3. If the FSN graphic is exhaustive, Hunter has the fifth most outfield starts in the AL. He's at 2188 and the leader, Al Kaline, is at 2375.

      1. are you sure about that? On the b-r list of career games played in the OF, he's 26th (2,234). There are six non-HOFers ahead of him in OF games played (Barry Bonds at 2,874; Steve Finley at 2,487; Luis Gonzalez, 2,441; Vada Pinson, 2,403; Ken Griffey Sr., 2,382; and Willie Davis, 2,323).

Finley had 2,300 career starts in the OF. He's not making the HOF any time soon. LuGo had 2,367 starts in the OF, Pinson 2,335, Griffey Sr, 2,348, and Davis 2,218. Torii (2,187 starts) can catch Davis, but he ain't likely to catch the rest of those guys.

I guess you were referring to the AL-only guys, since all of those played all or most of their careers in the NL?

    1. kind of weird to see Kaline as the AL leader in that category, given that Ty Cobb played over 2,900 career games, nearly all in the OF. But there's apparently no data on whether he "started" any games during 1905-1913, during which he played over 1,100 games in the OF. He's listed as having "started" only 1,787 career games in the OF. But the true number is probably more like 2,800.

      1. I questioned those numbers, too. Hunter's had a fine career, and he's played in a lot of games, but I find it hard to believe that he's fifth in career games started in the outfield.

      2. Or Tris Speaker. He has 2698 games played but is also missing which of the 747 games he started 1907 through 1913. The box scores for the early years are slowly being filled in so Kaline may not be long for the top spot.

    2. Heck, in Games Player he is in lofty territory

      91. George Davis 2372
      92. Al Oliver 2368
      93. Nellie Fox 2367
      94. Willie Stargell 2360
      95. Sammy Sosa 2354
      96. Jose Cruz 2353
      97. Torii Hunter 2350

With 25 games left and if Hunter plays a majority of them, he could end the season in the low 90s.

        1. they've only had one month roughly as bad as 10-15 (June, 11-17).

12 road games and 13 home games remaining.
