  1. Mets-Nationals is on ESPN. I kind of love how Natitude (which was dumb) has turned into LOLNats.

    1. The worst part of this is the foolishness among baseball writers that Cespedes should win MVP over Harper who is in the midst of one of the greatest seasons of all time.

I'll root for Harper until he inevitably puts on a Yankee uniform.

      1. I hope he doesn't get the Trout treatment, someone who should have an MVP for every full season he's played ever.

        1. He's at 8.7 rWAR and that puts him on pace for about 10 wins this year. That would rank him 55th all time among position players.

            1. I would be remiss if Trout's age 20 season wasn't mentioned since it's a few fractions better than Williams's age 22 and 23 season. Scanning through the list, those are the only two players on the 10+ win list at 22 or younger. I count four more at 23 (Cobb, Eddie Collins, Mays, and Ripken). If not historic, Harper at least has good company.

  2. Did Pelf suddenly decide halfway through this game that he didn't really want t be a starter anymore?

  3. Jan (from Toyota) is already one of my least favorite characters in a commercial, but that spoof on beat poetry is my least favorite commercial running right now.

  4. It's going to be hilarious when they reverse the call after the call in Houston earlier this week.

  5. The Twitter Doctors have already declared Kurt Suzuki's ACL torn. I think I'll wait until the team releases some info.

  6. You know, for as few hits as the Twins have, it sure feels like they've squandered a lot of chances.

On the other hand, so far, they've made it through the best part of the Monarchs bullpen without losing.

    1. I remember Chip Caray talking about the turf at the Metrodome about how the ball would pick up speed at it slipped into the outfield.

These people have a bad grasp of physics.

  7. Pretty obvious balk there. Don't know what KC is getting so upset about (other than the third strike then home run thing...never mind, I get it)

    1. They can't complain. Same thing happened to Cotts in the sixth. Two on and two out and had a strike on the inside corner called a ball, but he came back and got the out.

  8. That never would have happened under Gardy. He never would have pinch hit for his second catcher, especially in a tie game on the road. I love that Molly is pulling out all the stops and not worrying about the very remote chance of an injury to Fryer.

    1. I was thinking this same thing as Sano stepped to bat. When I was talking about pinch hiring for Herrmann last inning, it never occurred to me that he'd actually do it.

  9. I almost missed the end of the game. I was watching delayed on my Roku when I noticed there was a lot of game left after the sixth inning, so I went to the page where you can choose which inning to go to and it said F/11 and I figured it meant the game ended in the 11th. I watched the top of the 11th and decided I didn't want to watch the Royals win it. I came online instead to see the game story of how they won and saw the game was still going, so I was able to watch the 12th inning live. That was fun.

  10. Btw, what's with all the pinch running and defensive moves by Yost in a tie game? Thank you for making sure nothing but bat hitters faced Jepsen in the 12th. That's what Royals fans should be mad about, that and not having a RH reliever available to face Miguel Sano in extra innings. I bet if the Royals had a RH reliever up in the pen, Molitor wouldn't bother to bat Sano for Herrmann.

  11. I saw that he was hitting so I just decided to start getting warmed up.

Kevin Jepsen, on the foregone conclusion to the Miguel Sano at bat.

  12. That gets my nod for game of the year so far, Sano is a beast. And Texas trails Seattle 0-6 going to the bottom of the 8th. September baseball rocks.

          1. Oh man, that Detroit graph is so beautiful.

Anyway, yeah, in addition to the insurmountable odds of that game, some of us here will definitely be biased towards it anwyay from being in attendance. As soon as Mauer got that hit, you could feel something special happening. It was nuts.

That said, last night might have been a more important dramatic win considering the point in the season.
