We start recaps of the playoffs.  Nick Gordon and Felix Jorge lead the Kernels to a game one win.

CEDAR RAPIDS 5, QUAD CITIES 2 IN CEDAR RAPIDS--FIRST ROUND, GAME 1

Batting stars:  Nick Gordon was 3-for-3 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Alex Real was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.  Rafael P. Valera was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once.

Pitching stars:  Felix Jorge struck out seven in 7.1 innings, giving up two runs on nine hits and one walk.  Nick Anderson pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Nick Tanielu was 2-for-4 with a triple.  Kristian Trompiz was 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Brian Muniz was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.

The game:  Gordon's sacrifice fly in the fourth put the Kernels up 3-2.  They added a run in the sixth on a wild pitch and one more in the seventh on an error.

Of note:  Edgar Corcino was 1-for-4 with a double.  T. J. White was 1-for-4 with a run.
