  1. Utley decides to not bother with the slide part of the takeout slide. Tejada did a weird turn but WTF. Utley never even touched second.

        1. I only saw a couple of innings of the Dodgers-Mets game, but those announcers were so bad I was missing Dick and Bert.

  2. Oh man, Chase Utley absolutley wrecked Ruben Tejada on a "Take out" slide. They have to bring the cart out to haul Tejada away.

  3. I feel like both Utley and the batter should be out here and the run shouldn't count. Takeout slides are like hockey fights.

      1. Its funny, baseball has done a pretty good job when it comes to catcher safety, but you hear nothing about protecting middle infielders. Maybe a high profile incident like this will get the conversation going.

          1. It seems really odd that this is allowed at second to stop a double play but is allowed at no other base and is not allowed at second in any other situation. You're not allowed to try to take out the first baseman on a bang-bang play at first. You're not allowed to take out the second baseman or the shortstop on a close play where you're trying to stretch a single into a double. You're not allowed to take out the third baseman on a close play there. Yet, in this situation, it's not only allowed but applauded. It makes no sense to me.

    1. Kang is apparently adjusting to the American way of doing things a lot quicker than Nishi did. I know Kang is Korean, but don't they have a similar style of play as the Japanese?

  4. Last night's comeback win was the first time the Wild ever rallied from three goals down IN THE THIRD PERIOD ON THE ROAD in franchise history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Also, according to Elias, the Wild became the second team in NHL history and first since Hartford in 1986-87 to win its first game of the season by overcoming a three-goal, third-period deficit.

Also, Wild beat the Blues 3-2 tonight. Parise only with 1 goal, so now he's just averaging 2 per game. Slacker.

  5. On the bright side, I had three excellent beers at a local micro this evening, and discovered that Uber operates in my small city. w00t!
