  1. Terry Collins or Joe Maddon was very close for me, because I didn't expect either the Mets or the Cubs to be any damn good this year and there they were playing for the pennant.

    1. I expected more of the Cubs than I did of the Mets. I agree though, close call between them.

    2. Clint Hurdle deserved consideration, I think. For a guy with old school tendencies he has certainly embraced some new thought on on-field management.

          1. Companies producing toilet paper probably think they're #2 on the list of recession-proof industries.

    1. Damn, I'll say. I wish I could get this thing up and running so I could sell out. (I would totally sell out for a billion.)

  2. Hey bS, something cool coming to your neighborhood

    1. Oooh.

I went to a Sacramento FC game this summer with a season-ticket holding friend. That was awesome. This sounds like it could be similarly fun.

  3. Posting this here to not affect the results.

            1. where did I hide that like button? Aw, shit, I'll just not rate your next video and we'll call it square.

        1. squirrels? Dude, it's pronounced (by some) "sequel". That said, maybe squirrels are better than some sequels.

That said, the sequel: my favorite tree rat comic

    1. I'm still not comfortable using emojis.
I use them from time to time, but I always get an uncomfortable "I'm too old for this and probably doing it wrong" feeling when I do.

      1. lol!

          1. Whatβ€½ You don't want owls on your lawnβ€½
            (β•―Β°β–‘Β°)β•―οΈ΅ ┻━┻

                1. I've never seen that one. I'm not ready for smiley faces, but I may be willing to flip tables.

    2. I make it a point to not use those things, let alone even use the word for em. I am of the opinion that these things make communication harder, dammit.

      1. This.
Every. Single. Text. message I get from my brother in law contains about seventeen different emoticons, each repeated probably a dozen times sequentially:
        πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ ;)???????????????????????

He includes all of his siblings and their spouses and everyone responds with a deluge of the newest emoji they've learned.

The only one on the message younger than me is my wife.

        1. Mrs. Hayes gently mocks me for my insistence on not using them and not wanting to even know the meanings of any of them other than the obvious faces. We have these fabulous inventions called "words" that we already use! These other things are digital hieroglyphs.

          1. I limit myself to πŸ˜‰ and πŸ˜› with my work IM, which being a telecommuter I end up using all the time. They have their place, but only when used sparingly.

  4. Im pretty sure the Wolves and Wild have played at the same time 7 times this year. But I will be focused more on the Wolves.

        1. Whoa, last I had checked in the Wolves were up 2. Next thing I know they've won convincingly. It's almost like hey are better with a real point guard.

          1. Yeah, it was a good time. There were a lot of hand-claps down the stretch. No matter how quiet I try to be during a game if people are trying to go to sleep, I can't avoid the hand clap.

      1. I saw the ugly parts of the 2nd for the Wild, came home, and saw that they made it close and at least make it sporting for the last 5 minutes. Agreed that the Dubnyk as divine savior strategy is not sustainable.

  5. And the Wolves win in Miami, pulling away at the end. Did not see that coming. Andrew Wiggins is probably going to need an icebath tonight.
