    1. It is something in my house, though not so relevant for others.

Pi Day, Ides of March, [my wife's birthday ], St. Patrick's,Runner Anniversary

      1. Holy crap, the dude whipping those beers over the ring better have gotten a raise for his accuracy.

          1. When you open them by smashing them together, spillage and head aren't really among your concerns.

  1. I'm so excited that President Obama has reached out to the Buffyverse for his SCOTUS nominee. The world needs saving.

    1. The wife and I were in Chicago a few years back for our anniversary. On the Sunday we were there, the Bears, Blackhawks, Cubs and White Sox all had afternoon home games. The streets were a sea of humanity. It was pretty awesome as long as you didn't have to get anywhere in a timely fashion.

      1. In college, my Dad went to a triple header in Chicago - noon and 4 PM doubleheader at Wrigley, then a night game at the old Comiskey.

    2. The speculation was Guns and Roses. Since I have Wilco tix, that would have been a rough choice.

      1. That would have been tough.

I wanted to see Metallica but Wilco is the clear choice for me.

  3. The lawn needs mowing, trees are budding/leafing out, the forsythias are blooming (so I need to get the crabgrass preventer down), and Oak pollen is already in the "moderate" stage -- what the hell happened during the week we spent in Ft. Myers?? Everything is at least a ½ month early this year.

    1. It really should have been a photo of TC swinging the bat. Or, perhaps, sniffing a road kill deer on I-94 outside of Black River Falls.

  4. I think I might have set a personal best time in filling out my WGOM bracket this year. Under two minutes!

    1. On what site? No one ever answered my question the other day. I want to be humiliated!

        1. easy solution join dw's and if you win spooky will excommunicate you. Then no worries!

  5. On the grill stove top: New Orleans BBQ shrimps. Yeah baby. Eff what your doctor told you about eating healthy. YOLO.

    1. Bun-length Hebrew National all beef hot dogs in New England style buns, with melted cheddar cheese, chopped onions, and Dijon mustard with deli-bought coleslaw and German potato salad.

    2. I tried to grill pork chops tonight, but it was so effing windy the damn grill wouldn't stay lit. I was able to sear them and finish them in the oven, at least.

  6. OFFICIAL BRACKET (most of you that are saying you weren't invited were indeed invited, but may not use the same email addresses)

    Group #: 139508
    Password: 12346

    1. Could someone can let me know if these invites are going out tonight? I sent them to everyone from the Jeff A email thread a while back, but Yahoo is being coy as to whether the invites went out at all.

  7. ''First time going out there and throwing all of my pitches,'' Buchholz said. ''I'm still feeling for the changeup, obviously. Other than that, I gave up two well-hit balls, a lot of groundball outs. The team is aggressive. They've been that way over the last couple of years. You know what you're going to get when you go out there - early swings and contact. It's not necessarily a bad thing if you can locate your stuff. The first inning, I had a little bit of trouble locating, but I felt like it got better through the next three.''

Apparently, the Red Sox aren't as stat savvy as we thought or maybe Buchholz just doesn't bother reading advanced reports anymore since the Twins were above the AL average in strikeout rate last year and slightly below average in swinging at first pitches and I'm guessing both rates will go up this year with Sano in the lineup for the full season. Being aggressive and making contact sounds like the Twins of a decade ago but not the current lineup, including the only one left from that time, Joe Mauer.

    1. Last year Trueblood wrote an article about the Twins swinging early less than most teams, and how they were probably disadvantaged by it because it permitted so many pitcher-friendly counts.
