Trey's Astros played the same team last night and won in a more conventional 10-8 game. Trey had two walks with the bases loaded after striking out looking in his first plate appearance. His team is now 4-0 and outscored their opponents 45-15.
Pretty excited that SCSU Hockey (picked preseason to finish 6th in the NCHC) knocks off 2 hot teams in Denver and UMD to win the NCHC tournament. Bumped the Sioux to be #1 seed in the St. Paul NCAA Regional. The fact that the Gophers missed the NCAA tournament seems karma to me. The Big 10 hockey decision really wrecked a great thing MN Hockey had going in the WCHA. Rivalries thrown away for money. I have no sympathy for Gopher Hockey at this point. I do sympathize with Bemidji, who joins the WCHA and then watches it blow up soon thereafter.
Did the Gophers have a choice? I think that was a Big Ten decision.
Yeah, I don't think you just throw away great rivalries like that, I'm sure they were "influenced"
I would have a hard time believing that the Gophers were not a HUGE decision maker in the discussion. It was all about the dollars. I believe Minnesota and Wisconsin could have fought it if they wanted to.
