  1. Did we do a baseball standings prediction contest? Can I still get in? I haven't looked at any standings.

  2. I have the pre-sale code to the Chelsea-Milan soccer match at USBank Stadium in August. Presale starts today at 10:00a.

    http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0600507FE292A0E0?camefrom=ICC_Presale_Generic_040416

    The code is ICC2016

I'm getting 4 tix with maybe 1 or 2 that aren't quite locked in so I may have a ticket or two to sell later this summer.

While I think USBank Stadium looks absolutely hideous on the outside, I have a feeling it will be spectacular inside. This will be the first time the unwashed masses like us can see the dang thing, with added bonus you don't have to interact with the NFL. Throw in a cool soccer match with Chelsea and Milan and I think it could be a fun evening.

    1. At this point ticket prices for sporting events shouldn't surprise me, especially for the first event at a new stadium, but $85-$175 seems pretty steep to me. I want to take my son for his birthday (we went to Man City-Olympiakos in 2014) but will probably just wait until the event gets closer in case there are some deals.

I agree that it looks like the stadium is going to be amazing on the inside.

      1. I got upper deck 7th row at midline for $60. Oops what that Ticketmaster? They are $75 with your fees?

        1. I didn't even think about how much would be tacked on for fees when looking at the ticket prices. That extra $15 really stings when you're going for the more affordable seats.

          1. Got to watch AC Milan vs. Juventus at San Siro, in Milan, a (long) while back. Asked my hotel concierge about getting tickets to which they said 'Huh?', so just took a cab and asked them to take me to the place where the scalpers hang out.

San Siro can hold 81K souls, but they had cordoned off the end zones because of safety issues (fans+fireworks) so there was only around 60 thousand screaming Italians there for the game.

The entire match the various fan clubs are singing and beating their drums - it often seemed separate to the activity out on the pitch.

Juve, AC Milan, and Inter all share the same stadium, so quite a venue.

            1. AC Milan and Inter share the San Siro in Milan, but Juve are based in Turin/Torino and play at the Staddio del Alpi (sp?)

                1. As do I - Staddio delle Alpi (the correct spelling, which is how I found this out) was razed in 2006. Juve played in the Estadio Olympico for about 6 years while Juventus Stadium was being built on the site. Juve started playing there in 2011. I'm not entirely sure how missed that beyond not owning a soccer video game made after 2005.

  3. Wild Playoff Watch - Win and They're In Edition

The Wild need to get 2 points from their final two games to secure the 8 seed (or Colorado can drop 2 points - which seems likely). Minnesota can't catch Nashville or anyone else, so the 8 seed is the best they can do. Nashville has clinched the 7 seed and has almost surely set up a date with the Pacific Division winner in the first round (technically Anaheim could still take the 1 seed, but it seems unlikely that both Dallas and St. Louis will lose their remaining games). So, assuming that they get the necessary points, the Wild will get the Central Division winner (again).

    Current Central Division Standings
    --------------------------------------------
    Dallas - 105 points, 2 games remaining
St. Louis - 105 points, 2 games remaining
    --------------------------------------------
Dallas holds the tiebreaker. Both teams play Thursday and Saturday.

    Relevant Games Tonight:
San Jose @ Minnesota -- What I said above. The easy way is to just get the win here and then it's scoreboard watching time to see who the Wild will face.
Colorado @ Nashville -- If the Wild don't win, then maybe Colorado will lose. A regulation loss for the Avalanche puts the Wild in the playoffs.

    1. Reilly and Dumba both healthy scratches.

My hope is the Bruins free fall continues and they miss, which results in Julien getting the axe.

        1. dude, the hawks always eliminate the wild. they'll get as far as they have to in the playoffs to make that happen. calling it now

    2. Avs lose, 4-3.

The Wild are in. Four years in a row as a wild card. I have to say I'm probably the least excited about their playoff prospects this time.

  4. I think I missed the memo. Where do I find the game log/recap assignments for this year?

      1. My brother was 9lbs, 14 oz. My mom is very small. I'm not sure how she did it.

Two of my uncles are twins. Both were over 8lbs, the larger over 8lbs, 8 oz. The doctor didn't know there would be twins until the first one was born and there was still another heartbeat inside Grandma...

          1. Some women, anyways...
EAR was so lazy she just had the doctors bypass the whole "labor" thing and just do it themselves.

        1. Heh, I guess I don't fit in here. My daughter was 6#-4oz and my son was 4#-6oz.

        1. One of the top comments is "RIP Soulseek".

I'm unfamiliar with this one, but some of the names of past entities definitely brought back some memories.

            1. Maybe the powers that be finally take notice and shut it down.
Or maybe more folks with good collections of bird songs and Aaron Dilloway records and tapes will see this and show up.
I'd hope that the large majority of people interested in top40/pop/the type of artist who[se label and publisher] would strongly enforce copyright would already have other (streaming) ways of hearing those things for free/cheap.

FWIW, I got a pirated copy of the Cornell Essential Set, which only drove me to fork out $$ for the Cornell Master Set.
I think that if you buy the Essential, you can (could) upgrade to the Master for the difference, so I gave them the same amount of money either way.
Some of the others I've found there are pretty obscure and cover Britain and Europe.

  5. The Twins website ran a story on the Twins being "lucky" last year what with hitting with RISP, etc., and I thought this quote was interesting.:

"We hit fairly well with runners in scoring position, but I think that comes and goes, so you don't want to lean on that too much," Ryan said.

That's good to see considering traditional people in baseball tend to think of driving in runs as more of a skill than luck or opportunities.

  6. The Wild are hot then cold then hot then cold... Now that they've backed into the playoffs, hopefully, they'll wait till the playoffs to get hot and stay hot.

    1. This Wolves team is so weird. They cant win consistently at home, get swept by the 76ers. But wins at Golden State, Boston, Atlanta, Miami, Oklahoma City and a sweep of Chicago.
