Game 21: Native Americans at Co-birthed Siblings

O.k.  I admit it, I was going to go on an epic rant about the Twins and their seemingly clueless front office: allowing the team to have 14 pitchers on the roster, losing John Hicks because they wanted to call up “I batted .194 in Triple-A” David Murphy and fielding a lousy outfield defense with an offense that strikes out at historic levels.  Plus those damn red uniforms. But then something miraculous happened.  The Twins won a game against the hated Clevelanders and all is right in the world.  So why get upset about John Hicks anyway?  Twins are on a winning streak, staff ace “Big Spot” Ricky Nolasco is on the mound against “I’m a Loser” (It’s his real nickname - look it up) Cody Anderson and you can get a cheeseburger in your Bloody Mary at Hrbek’s place.  So who cares if it might not hit 50 degrees at the ballpark.  What else you going to do, watch Nashville v. Anaheim in hockey?  Oh and did I mention Sano is playing 3rd base?  #winning

So c’mon Twins, let’s get that record to a solid .333 winning percentage and hand Cody (I really am a Loser) Anderson his hat.

  1. I wonder what the exit velocity was on that Park hit. It seemed to fool the centerfielder.

    1. I saw someone at twinkietown complaining that he wasn't hitting and is no good. I decided that place is devolving into the strib.

      1. I actually haven't been over there in years because strib. I'm glad to know I'm not missing much.

        1. There was also a "Torii Hunter leadership" comment as well. Why are there so few places a person can go for intelligent Twins reporting/conversation?

          1. Because on the interwebz, everyone gets to comment, without having to actually think about what they say or have any real knowledge of the sport/policy/event/whatever, because they'll never be held accountable. And the world is full of idiots.

            1. Too be more specific, my confusion at the lack of good Twins discussions outside of since very small pockets is largely from considering the Timberwolves. They've been much worse for much, much longer yet there's plenty of good places to go for news, analysis and discussion. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough with respect to the Twins, or maybe this place gives me all that I need for them.

            Ergo, WGOM

  2. Mauer has reached base in every game this year. He has a hit in all but three of them.

    1. It's muted because my wife can't stand Dick'n'Bert ... but I'm curious about what they said.

      1. Jepsen totally missed his location, but was well up out of the strike zone. Even so, ESPN's hot zone shows Napoli loves pitches up and out over the plate or even off the plate, just not inside.

    1. Someone in my section at the game last night referred to Jepsen as [redacted for RR]

    1. How about management just assigns a lottery to closing situations. Anyone who is available to pitch draws a number...

      1. With a 15 man bullpen you'd think somebody could get 3 outs in the 9th without giving up a run.

      1. Abad has the third longest streak in the majors for career games finished without a save

  3. So Bert just ripped Buxton and praised Santana. God I hate this crew. These two players don't have the same skillsets or potential

  4. Is this the second time now Sano has walked off a game after Mauer has been intentionally walked?

  5. Twins have 7 blown saves and 2 saves. I won't say in 9 opps because every time a middle reliever blows a lead, it's considered a blown save but if you don't blow it, it's considered a Hold. Stupid stat. Still, the Twins only have 2 Holds with Abad leading the team with 2 and he doesn't have any Blown Saves. Jepsen has 3 and May, Perkins, Pressly and Tonkin each have one. Jepsen and May have the other 2 Holds. Tonkin's Blown Save should have an asterisk because he got it when Murphy threw the ball away with 2 outs in the 15th the other day.
