Minor Details: Games of May 31

A terrific game by Sam Clay!  An even terrificer game by Tyler Jay!  A not-so-terrific game Jose Berrios.

INDIANAPOLIS 9, ROCHESTER 3 IN ROCHESTER

Jacob Stallings' three-run double in the fourth broke a 2-2 tie and the Indians never lost the lead.  Stallings had a huge game for Indianapolis, going 4-for-4 with two home runs and a double, driving in seven runs.  Jose Berrios had a rare bad game, allowing seven runs on ten hits and two walks in just five innings.  He did strike out six.  Eddie Rosario was 2-for-4 with a home run and is now batting .333.  Jorge Polanco was 1-for-4 with a double and is batting .312.  James Beresford went 1-for-5 and is back below .300 at .298.

CHATTANOOGA 10, BIRMINGHAM 6 IN BIRMINGHAM

A four-run fifth put the Lookouts ahead and a three-run ninth secured the victory. D. J. Hicks led the offense, going 3-for-5 with a double.  Travis Harrison was 2-for-4 with a triple and a walk.  Ryan Walker was 0-for-3 with two walks and is now batting .323.  D. J. Baxendale was bailed out by the offense, as he pitched 5.1 innings and gave up five runs on eleven hits and no walks with two strikeouts.

FORT MYERS 4, ST. LUCIE 0 IN FORT MYERS

Edgar Corcino hit a two-run triple in the first and came around to score on a Chris Paul single to make it 3-0.  Tyler Jay took it from there, striking out eleven in eight shutout innings while allowing just two hits and a walk.  Engelb Vielma, recently sent back to Fort Myers from Chattanooga, was 2-for-3 with a walk and is batting .300 for the Miracle.  Nick Gordon was 1-for-4 and is batting .289.

BELOIT 2, CEDAR RAPIDS 1 IN BELOIT (10 INNINGS)

It was scoreless through seven.  Sean Miller's RBI single in the eighth put the Kernels ahead, but in the bottom of the ninth a walk, a balk, and a Trent Gilbert single tied the score.  The Kernels had men on second and third with one out in the tenth but did not score.  Jesus Lopez delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the tenth for the game winner.  The Kernels wasted an excellent performance by Sam Clay, who struck out eight in seven innings and allowed only one hit and four walks.  Williams Ramirez gave up his run in 9.2 Class A innings in the ninth.  Miller led the offense with a 3-for-5 day.  Luis Arraez was 0-for-4, dropping his average to .331, and LaMonte Wade was 0-for-5, dropping his average to .315.  Nelson Molina was 1-for-3 with a walk and continues to bat .333.
