June 21, 2016: The Normals

I'm running a game over on Facebook with a few of my regulars and a bunch of people who typically play with a more regular-Joe crowd. I think I'm losing the ability to relate to the regular Joe.

  1. Surprisingly, the Twins don't make any of these drought lists:

  2. So...anyone work for companies struggling with the new FLSA rule re: exempt/non-exempt employees?

    1. Actually, I'm getting bumped back to hourly. I'm in a weird class at work, and instead of parsing it at the salary line (so you could then tell who was under that line if they went back to non-exempt, I assume), they just made the entire class non-exempt. I told them fine by me, guys. The reason I was originally moved to exempt is because I was getting too much overtime.

      1. Our company isn't too worried about paying overtime for legitimate reasons. But a lot of our employees work from home in the evening (including me) and soon the non-exempt employees will not be able to do that. So we're worried some of them, who are professionals, will feel like they're being treated like McDonald's employees. On the other hand, it'll help our staff to better separate work from home and be more efficient.

    2. I don't work at a company, but our institution's main HR office is being predictably helpful.

    3. Yes, and it's been a pain in the ass because our salaried employees work a 35 hour work week which creates a discrepancy in how to calculate "overtime" for non-exempt employees.

      1. @APkrawczynski @SouhanStrib You do great work, Jon. Find a new partner. Souhan is click bait.

    1. You better not be joking.

share it here if you get it!

      1. We sat down and did the budget for the rest of the year, and more concerts weren't in it. 🙁

I might be able to squeeze the Dinosaur Jr concert in, but I'm waiting for The Hold Steady to announce more dates.

    2. I'll be just back from my family's second summer camping trip*, so I can't imagine I'll be out of town.
      I'll go.

  3. Add "lack of communication" to the List of Grievances for the Twins:

“They haven’t said anything to me” about where he will play once he is cleared to return, Sano said Tuesday. Is he still an outfielder? “I think so. Nobody has said I’m not.”

    1. I've been gradually moving towards the "clean house" point of view but the Arcia move pushed me over the edge. It's not so much that I think he'll be a superstar. It is just another example of the Twins selling at the absolute lowest point in a guy's value. And my reaction was actually, "Good. Now Arcia can have a career with a team that can figure out how to utilize his skills."

  4. Listening on the radio in my car, I heard Peter Bourjos coming up. I had two thoughts:

    1. Huh, I didn't know he's on the Phillies, and
    2. He'll definitely hit a homerun now

    1. Given this front office's predilection towards signing players who were Twins killers, I was surprised they didn't make a run at adding Bourjos when he was available. He would've been a decent 4th outfielder.

But yeah, that bomb was totally predictable.
