Minor Details: Games of June 29

No attempt will be made to recap all that's happened in the minors in the last couple of weeks, but I will include some standings information at the end of this post.

PAWTUCKET 3, ROCHESTER 2 IN ROCHESTER

Chris Dominguez' RBI single in the sixth put the Red Sox up 3-2 and the last fifteen Red Wings were retired for the Pawtucket victory.  Logan Darnell pitched 5.2 innings, giving up three runs on nine hits and two walks with one strikeout.  The Red Wings had only three hits, two of them by Adam Brett Walker II, who was 2-for-4 with a double.  Eddie Rosario was used as a pinch-hitter and was 0-for-1, dropping his average to .307.  Miguel Sano, on a rehab assignment, was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .158.  He's 3-for-19, with two of his hits being home runs.

PENSACOLA 3, CHATTANOOGA 0 IN PENSACOLA

Zach Vincej put the Blue Wahoos in the lead with an RBI double in the second and it was all they needed.  The Lookouts had six hits and four walks, but they stranded ten and went 1-for-8 with men in scoring position.  David Hurlbut pitched six innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on nine hits and a walk with five strikeouts.  Stuart Turner was 1-for-3 with a double, the only extra base hit Chattanooga had.  Engelb Vielma was 1-for-3 and is batting .307.  Leonardo Reginatto was 1-for-2 with a double and is batting .300.

FORT MYERS 5, PALM BEACH 3 IN PALM BEACH

The Miracle led 5-0 after six, then held on to win.  Felix Jorge struck out ten in 6.1 innings.  He held the Cardinals scoreless for six innings before tiring in the seventh.  For the game he allowed two runs on eight hits and a walk.  Edgar Corcino and Trey Vavra were each 2-for-4 with a double.  A. J. Murray was 2-for-4 and is now batting .300.

QUAD CITIES 4, CEDAR RAPIDS 2 IN QUAD CITIES

Anthony Hermelyn's RBI single in the third put the River Bandits up 2-1 and they would never lose the lead.  Hermelyn was 3-for-3 and scored the other three Quad Cities runs.  The Kernels were in the game all the way, never trailing by more than two, but their last seven batters were retired.  Miles Nordgren pitched a complete game, striking out nine but allowing four runs on eleven hits and one walk.  He threw one hundred seven pitches.  Luis Arraez was 3-for-4 and is batting .328.  Daniel Kihle was 2-for-4.

PULASKI 6, ELIZABETHTON 1 IN ELIZABETHTON

Kevin Cornelius hit a two-run homer in a three-run first that gave the Yankees all the runs they needed.  Starter Alex Robinson had a rough game, lasting only 2.1 innings and surrendering three runs on four hits and five walks with no strikeouts.  Ariel Montesino was 2-for-3 with a walk and is now batting .480 (12-for-25).  Travis Blankenhorn was 2-for-4.  Alex Kirilloff was 1-for-3 in his professional debut.  Jaylin Davis was 0-for-4 and is batting .320.

GCL ORIOLES 3, GCL TWINS 0 AT ORIOLES

During our break, the Gulf Coast League started.  Tristan Graham's two-run ground-rule double in the fourth gave the Orioles a lead they would hold the rest of the game.  Tyler Fox started for the Twins and pitched 3.2 innings, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts.  Zach Featherstone was 2-for-3 with a walk and is batting .333.  Joe Cronin was 1-for-4 and is batting .353.  Luis Martinez was 0-for-4 and is batting .364.

DSL ROJOS 13, DSL TWINS 6 AT ROJOS

It was tied at six through seven and a half, but the Rojos scored seven in the eighth to blow the game open.  They had only four hits in the big inning, as they were aided by three walks, a hit batsman, four wild pitches, and an error.  Melvi Acosta struck out seven in five innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk.  Jorge Parra was 3-for-4 and is batting .351.  Edgar Herrera was 2-for-4 and is batting .338.  Wander Javier was 0-for-1 with a walk and is batting .320.  Darling Cuesto was 1-for-4 with a walk and is batting .316.

STANDINGS INFORMATION

Rochester is 46-34, tied for second, two games out of first, and is 4-6 in its last ten games.  They are tied for first with Buffalo in the wild card standings.

Chattanooga finished the first half with a 36-34 record, good for second place.  They are 3-3 in the second half, tied for fourth, two games back.

Fort Myers finished the first half in third place with a 34-35 record.  They are 4-2 in the second half, in first place by a half game.

Cedar Rapids finished the first half in third place with a 36-33 record.  They are 4-3 in the second half, tied for third place, three games back.

Elizabethton is 4-3, in third place, one game out of first.

The GCL Twins are 2-3, in third place, two games out of first.

The DSL Twins are 11-10, in fifth place, 3.5 games out of first.  They are 5-5 in their last ten games.
