Game 83 — A’s at Twins (?)

Some serious signs God doesn't want Tommy Milone to pitch tonight as biblical storms roll through Minneapolis. As of 7:00p, not sure of game status but putting this up in case God gets distracted and the storms pass.

  1. Some very heavy rains and winds here. Power flickered a few times so the three-year-old thought lightning was happening inside. Cursory check from the windows shows only a few small branches felled.

    1. We lost a large linden. Trunk snapped in half at chest level, maybe 4' up from the ground. Surprisingly,* right where an inexpertly handled backhoe peeled off a good chunk of bark, maybe 3' x 20," whilst excavating for a new septic system 3 years ago. I kept hoping it would heal sufficiently to save the tree. Sigh.
Luckily it fell away from the house, but blocking the road out of my side of the neighborhood. Up early to play Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

      *Not at all surprised

  2. Apparently the Twins announced a 9:50p start time. Fun stuff. SoCal and bS will have to,hold down the fort during the later innings.

  3. Suzuki and Buxton with back-to-back doubles to drive in a pair in the third. No give backs, Tommy!

  4. Wow. Buxton just challenged Reddick and beat the throw to third easily.

I want to see Buxton vs. Billy Hamilton on the bases.

  5. That was an experience... drove through the storm to get to the field right as they delayed the game. Killed time until opening pitch (oh yes we stayed, we drove 1200 miles for this game!)

Our 4 year old made it to the seventh inning stretch (just after midnight) and might have kept going except for obvious signs of an incoming meltdown of tiredness. The highlight was his wanting more fireworks after Vargas's HR and getting them.
