FMD — Live Albums

NME has your typical internet trope -- a list!  This time best live albums.  Actually it's pretty decent, although I'm shocked it didn't include Cheap Trick Live at Budokan.  I would also add Built to Spill Live and of course Guided by Voices Live at the Wheelchair Races.  Otis Redding Live on the Sunset Strip would be another.  Oh and I would have gone with The Name of this Band is Talking Heads over Stop Making Sense, but that's just me.

What other great live albums do you swear by?

  1. Ugh, you just had to bring up Live at Budokan. I'm still mad I didn't have enough on me at ZZZ in Des Moines to get it at the time. It wasn't there when I went back the next week 🙁

      1. Did you buy the Classic album, Budokan 2, or the combo?

I've have the Classic and Budokan 2, researched the set list and rearranged the songs on my iPod so I can listen to the entire concert just like those Japanese kids did nearly 40 years ago.

    1. I thought you were referring to Bob Dylan at Budokan. 😉

Also, 1969: The Velvet Underground Live is a much better live album than Live at Max's Kansas City.

  2. Hey, Kraftwerk made the list!

I would have included Wakeman's "Journey to the Centre of the Earth", Wings "Wings Over America" (the first #1 triple LP), and Tomita's "Live in Linz: The Mind of the Universe"
