FMD: Summer Mix Favorite?

Not sure who's supposed to go, so here's this.

Out of curiosity, what was your favorite song (not nominated by yourself) from the Summer Mix? Mine might actually be Horse Lords. "Sister Cities" is probably my actual favorite, but it's not like I was actually a convert.

  1. Is it still Free's Week?
My favorite is definitely "Long Wat" by Khun Narin (Carter Hayes nomination), but "Parties" by Puberty (Zack nomination) has significant charms as well.

  3. I really like this year's mix--I'm pretty sure I can't pick just one favorite.

    These for sure:
    "Long Wat" by Khun Narin
"I Love You" by Girl Band
Actually, the whole stretch from "I Love You" to "Everybody Does" is excellent.

How's that for an utter nonanswer?

  4. That Car Seat Headrest song is pretty cool. SI'm still on the fence about seeing them Monday night. Will depend on how I feel about a late night Monday.

    Notes:

B1. Last Saturday I came across 3(!) rare GBV Ep's at the Electric Fetus. At first I was just stunned and was thinking "that's pretty cool" and was about to walk away. Then I was like, whoa pick those up. They were cheap too, $3.99 and $4.99. I could easily resell them on E-bay for ~$20.00. For completists only, but some good stuff.

        1. I did not. I did not linger over the photo or pull up a better-res photo.
I now see I overreacted. I thought two of the three were females; that only the foremost was a male.

  5. Some BPB:

  6. I've not talked much about it here, but I'm a little obsessed with Beyoncé's Lemonade. Yesterday I came across this video of Alvin Ailey dancers performing to "Freedom" from that album--it's mesmerizing.

This article gives more info about how the piece came to be.

  7. I recently purchased a new cd. (it slays.) I plan to bring it with me to get it autographed by the lead guitarist when I go to the Great Taste of the Midwest next month. (be moonlights as Surly's had brewer.) I'm dorkily excited about this.
