  1. They actually sound better here than a lot of the "heyday" live recordings I've heard. I do like this tune.

  3. I'm the jerk who gave it 3 stars. I don't know . . . I liked Oasis well enough in the mid-90s, but it just hasn't held up particularly well for me.

        1. Oasis essentially took the ingredients of Revolver, which was arguably the Beatles at their leanest, sharpest, most succinct and cohesive, and reworked them over and over again, managing just seven albums of diminishing returns in 15 years. They lasted twice as long as the Beatles, made half as much music, and never showed the least interest in progress.

              1. Hell, they even named one of their albums, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants... what's that if not self-awareness.

                1. Depends on your interpretation of that line. It's from Newton, after all. So, if you take it at face value as a statement of modesty, one thing. If you read it (as some have) as sarcasm on Newton's part, it's another. If you take it as comparing themselves to Newton, then it's pure hubris.

                  1. If they, like me, had no idea where that line came from, then I'd argue some combination of 'face value' (though not as an expression of modesty) and 'hubris' (as in, we're bigger than the Beatles circa Revolver).

                  2. I always thought the giants of the title were the Beatles.
                    "We're only better than the Beatles because we didn't have to figure out all the things they figured out for us!"
                    It's a #Humblebrag!

                    Also, I hear echoes of "Bigger than Jesus" in it. Maybe wanting that kind of controversy.
