Minor Details: Games of April 20

Nick Tepesch and Tyler Wells pitch well in losses.  Felix Jorge and David Fischer pitch well in wins.

GWINNETT 3, ROCHESTER 0 IN GWINNETT

There was no score until the fifth, when the Braves got on the board on a Mel Rojas, Jr. RBI single.  They added two more in the eighth, making it 3-0.  The Red Wings only once got a man to third base, when they had men on first and third with two out.  They had only four hits in the game, all singles, and did not draw a walk.

Nick Tepesch pitched well in defeat, striking out seven in five innings while giving up an unearned run on seven hits and a walk.  J. T. Chargois made his season debut and struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings.  Tommy Field was 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and raised his average to .302.  Leonardo Reginatto was 0-for-4 and is batting .353.  Matt Hague was also 0-for-4 and is also batting .353.  Daniel Palka was 0-for-4, dropping his average to .300.  Bengie Gonzalez was 0-for-3 and is now 2-for-24 (.083) on the season.

CHATTANOOGA 3, BILOXI 0 IN CHATTANOOGA

Dan Rohlfing homered leading off the fourth, Engelb Vielma singled leading off the fifth, and Jose Gonzalez had a run-scoring double in the sixth.  The Shuckers got a man to third base with two out in the second and again in the third, but not after that.

Felix Jorge pitched six shutout innings, giving up six hits and three walks with four strikeouts.  Nick Burdi pitched two shutout innings and Mason Melotakis struck out three in a scoreless inning.  Burdi is unscored upon in 6.1 innings this season and Melotakis is unscored upon in 6.2 innings.  Each has struck out eight this season.  Rohlfing's home run was his third of the season.  Nick Gordon was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .314.  Vielma is batting .311.  Edgar Corcino was 1-for-4 and is batting .308.  Gonzalez is batting .368.

FORT MYERS 8, FLORIDA 3 IN FORT MYERS

Leading 2-1, the Miracle scored five runs in the sixth to take control of the game.  Zander Weil had a two-run double in the inning.

David Fischer struck out seven in six innings, giving up one run on six hits and no walks.  It was the first run he has given up in fifteen innings, giving him an ERA of 0.60.  He has struck out 20 and has a WHIP of 1.07.  Nick Anderson pitched a scoreless inning and is unscored upon in five innings, giving up just two hits and a walk.  Weil was 3-for-3 with a triple and a double.  Brian Navarreto was 3-for-4 with two doubles.  Alex Perez was 0-for-5, dropping his average to .322.  Chris Paul was 1-for-4 and is batting .328.  Daniel Kihle was 0-for-2 and is batting .308.

KANE COUNTY 5, CEDAR RAPIDS 3 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The Kernels led 3-2 after eight.  The Cougars had men on first and second with two out and got three consecutive RBI singles to take the lead.  Cedar Rapids went down in order in the bottom of the ninth.  The runs came off Colton Davis, who was pitching his second inning of relief.

Tyler Wells struck out eleven in seven innings, giving up two runs on six hits and no walks.  Jermaine Palacios was 3-for-4 with a triple and a double and is batting .388.  Mitchell Kranson was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .300.  Aaron Whitefield was 0-for-3 and is batting .313.
