Minor Details: Games of April 21

A solid game for Jason Wheeler.  Nick Gordon's three-run single lifts the Lookouts.  A big inning carries the Miracle.  The Kernels win in extra innings.

ROCHESTER 3, CHARLOTTE 2 IN CHARLOTTE

The Red Wings were down 2-0 after four.  They tied it by scoring two runs on one hit in the fifth and got the winning run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly.  The Knights put men on first and third with one out in the ninth but could not score.

Jason Wheeler struck out eleven in seven innings, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks.  Alex Wimmers gave up two hits in the ninth but emerged unscored upon to get the save.  Leonardo Reginatto was 2-for-3 and is batting .378.  J. B. Shuck was 2-for-4 with a double.  Matt Hague was 1-for-4 and is batting .345.

CHATTANOOGA 6, BILOXI 3 IN CHATTANOOGA

The Lookouts took a 3-0 lead after two but tied it 3-3 after four.  In the sixth, two walks and an error loaded the bases and Nick Gordon delivered a three-run single to put Chattanooga ahead to stay.  The Shuckers put their first two men on in the ninth, bringing the tying run up to bat, but their last three batters were retired.

Paul Clemens settled down after the first two innings and went six, striking out seven while giving up three runs on three hits and four walks.  Todd Van Steensel struck out four in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up three hits.  Nick Gordon was 3-for-5 with a double and is batting .339.  Engelb Vielma was 3-for-5 and is batting .340.  LaMonte Wade was 2-for-3 with a walk, getting his average above .200 at .205.  Edgar Corcino was 1-for-4 and is batting .302.

FORT MYERS 10, DUNEDIN 4 IN DUNEDIN

The Miracle scored five runs in the third to take a lead they would keep for the rest of the game.  Chris Paul hit a three-run homer in the inning.  A three-run ninth, highlighted by a two-run double by Zander Weil, but the game out of reach.

Keaton Steele pitched six innings, giving up four runs on ten hits and a walk with four strikeouts.  Michael Theofanopoulos struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.  Jonny Drozd gave up two hits in a scoreless inning.  Ehire Adrianza had a successful debut in a rehab assignment, going 3-for-5 with three runs.  Max Murphy was also 3-for-5.  Weil was 2-for-5 with two doubles.  Nelson Molina was 2-for-4 with a triple.  Alex Perez was 0-for-4 with a walk and is now down to .302.  Paul is batting .317.

CEDAR RAPIDS 4, KANE COUNTY 3 IN CEDAR RAPIDS (12 INNINGS)

Jermaine Palacios had an RBI single in the seventh to tie it 3-3.  Travis Blankenhorn led off the twelfth with a walk, advanced to second and then to third on a pair of wild pitches, and scored on a Jaylin Davis single to win the game.

Sean Poppen struck out seven in six innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk.  Logan Lombana made his season debut by striking out four in 2.2 scoreless innings.  Tom Hackimer struck out three in 3.1 scoreless innings and the only runner he allowed reached on an error.  Brandon Lopez 3-for-5.  Jermaine Palacios was 3-for-6 with a double and is batting .400.  Davis was 2-for-6.
