Minor Details: Games of April 22

Aaron Slegers is hit hard again.  Randy LeBlanc keeps his ERA perfect in a Fort Myers win.  Six doubles aren't enough for the Kernels.

CHARLOTTE 7, ROCHESTER 3 IN CHARLOTTE

J. B. Shuck hit a two-run homer in a three-run third that put the Red Wings up 3-2.  In the fourth, ex-Twin Tyler Ladendorf's RBI single tied it and a sacrifice fly later in the inning gave the Knights a 4-3 lead.  They added three in the fifth, with two coming on an error and the other on a Ladendorf double, to put the game out of reach.

Aaron Slegers was awesome in his first game but has been hit hard in the next two.  He lasted five innings and gave up seven runs (six earned) on ten hits and a walk with three strikeouts.  Alan Busenitz pitched two shutout innings of relief and Raul Fernandez worked a perfect ninth.  Shuck was 2-for-5 with a double in addition to the home run, which was his second of the year.  Tommy Field was also 2-for-5.  Leonardo Reginatto was 1-for-3 with a walk and is batting .375.  Mitch Garver was 1-for-4 with a double and a walk and is batting .346.  Matt Hague was 1-for-5 and is batting .333.

TENNESSEE AT CHATTANOOGA

Rained out.  The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.

FORT MYERS 4, DUNEDIN 1 IN DUNEDIN

A bases-loaded walk and a two-run sacrifice fly-plus-error, all in the eighth inning, put the Miracle up 4-1.  The Blue Jays did not get a man past first after that.  Dunedin had ten hits but only had four at-bats with a man in scoring position.

Randy LeBlanc pitched seven innings, giving up an unearned run on nine hits and one walk with two strikeouts.  He has pitched seven innings in each of his three starts and has yet to give up an earned run.  He has 14 strikeouts and 3 walks in 21 innings and has a WHIP of 0.95. Sam Clay struck out four in two shutout innings.  Ehire Adrianza, on a rehab assignment, was 2-for-5 with two doubles and is now 5-for-10.  Chris Paul was 2-for-4 with a double and is batting .328.

KANE COUNTY 4, CEDAR RAPIDS 3 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Back-to-back doubles by Travis Blankenhorn and Lewin Diaz in the eighth tied the score 3-3.  Anfernee Grier led off the Cougar ninth with a walk, went to second on a bunt, and scored from second on a passed ball to put Kane County ahead 4-3.  Mitchell Kranson led off the ninth with a double but never moved passed second base.  Six of the eight Kernels hits were doubles, but the team was 2-for-15 with men in scoring position.

Domenick Carlini, making his second appearance and first start of the season, pitched four innings, giving up three runs on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts.  He threw 84 pitches.  Andrew Vasquez struck out six in 2.1 innings, lowering his ERA to 1.17.  In 7.2 innings, he has struck out 12, walked 3, and has a WHIP of 1.17.  Alex Robinson struck out three in 1.2 scoreless innings.  Kranson was 2-for-4 with two doubles and is batting .318.  Diaz was 2-for-4 with a double.  Jermaine Palacios was 1-for-4 with a double and is batting .390.
