Minor Details: Games of May 6

Matt Tracy leads the Lookouts to a win.  The Miracle blows a huge lead but wins anyway.  The Kernels come up short.

CHATTANOOGA 5, PENSACOLA 1 IN CHATTANOOGA (GAME 1)

Nick Gordon started the scoring with a two-run single in the second and Edgar Corcino had a two-run double in a three-run fourth.  Matt Tracy took it from there, not allowing a hit until the fourth inning.

Tracy pitched six innings, giving up an unearned run on three hits and no walks with four strikeouts.  He threw 100 pitches and lowered his ERA to 2.60.  Luke Bard struck out three in two perfect innings of relief and Mason Melotakis kept his ERA at zero with a perfect ninth.  Melotakis has given up 5 hits and 1 walk with 8 strikeouts in 12.2 innings.  Corcino was 2-for-4 with a walk in addition to his double and is batting .306.  Tanner English was 2-for-4 to get his average into triple digits at .118.  Gordon was 1-for-5 and is batting .333.  Engelb Vielma was 0-for-3 with two walks and is batting .315.

PENSACOLA AT CHATTANOOGA (GAME 2)

Rained out.

FORT MYERS 11, ST. LUCIE 10 IN ST. LUCIE

The Miracle scored seven runs in the third inning and led 9-1 after four.  The Mets came back to score four in the fifth and four in the sixth to tie it 9-9.  In the eighth, an RBI single by Chris Paul and a run-scoring double Zander Weil put Fort Myers up 11-9.  St. Lucie loaded the bases with none out in the bottom of the ninth, but a double play and a strikeout ended the game.

Chris Anderson only gave up one run in his first four innings, but his line reads five innings, five runs, thirteen hits, one walk, and four strikeouts.  The next four runs were charged to Anthony McIver, who pitched only one-third of an inning.  Sam Clay pitched 2.2 perfect innings of relief.  Weil was 4-for-5 with a double.  Shane Kennedy was 3-for-5 with a home run (his second) and a double, scoring three times.  Paul was 3-for-5 and is batting .330.  Sean Miller was 2-for-5.

FORT WAYNE 4, CEDAR RAPIDS 3 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The TinCaps scored three in the second to take a 3-1 lead and the Kernels could never catch up.  They got the tying run to third in the seventh and to second in the eighth, but could do no more.

Domenick Carlini struck out six in 5.1 innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks.  Colton Davis pitched two shutout innings and Alex Robinson struck out four in 1.2 scoreless innings.  Robinson has struck out 17 and walked 4 in 11.1 innings.  Ariel Montesino was 2-for-4 with a double, moving his average into triple digits at .127.  Travis Blankenhorn was also 2-for-4.  Jermaine Palacios was 1-for-4 with a double and is batting .364.

  1. Saw two people, I think from the same family, with this Red Wings logo on a gray pullover. I happened to wear a Twins shirt but no secret, organizational handshakes or nods were exchanged.
