Minor Details: Games of May 28

Not much offense for the Red Wings.  A pair of four-run innings and fine pitching by Felix Jorge carry the Lookouts.  The Miracle gives up a lot of late runs.  A three-run tenth give the Kernels a win.

INDIANAPOLIS 2, ROCHESTER 1 IN ROCHESTER

The Indians scored single runs in the first and third.  The Red Wings got their lone run in the seventh on a Tommy Field RBI single.  They advanced a man to second with two out, but their last eight batters were retired.

David Hurlbut pitched five innings, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk with one strikeout.  Alan Busenitz and Alex Wimmers each pitched two shutout innings, with Busenitz making his ERA 2.08.  Field was 2-for-3.

CHATTANOOGA 9, MONTGOMERY 2 IN CHATTANOOGA

A four-run second and a four-run third decided this game early.  Ryan Walker hit a three-run homer in the third.  The Biscuits scored both of their runs in the eighth.

Felix Jorge pitched seven shutout innings, giving up five hits and a walk with one strikeout.  Walker was 2-for-3 and the home run was his second.  Dan Gamache was 2-for-4 with a double.  Travis Harrison was 2-for-5 with two doubles.  Nick Gordon was 2-for-5 and is batting .303.

CHARLOTTE 6, FORT MYERS 1 IN CHARLOTTE

Chris Paul hit an RBI double in the first.  The 1-0 lead held up until the fifth, when back-to-back homers by Ryan Boldt and Brandon Lowe put the Stone Crabs ahead.  They added two more in the sixth and got single runs in the seventh and eighth.  The Miracle only once got a man to third base after the first inning.

David Fischer pitched five innings, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts.  Chris Paul was 1-for-2 with two walks and is batting .351.  Justin Hazard made his 2017 debut and went 0-for-4.

CEDAR RAPIDS 5, KANE COUNTY 2 IN KANE COUNTY (10 INNINGS)

Aaron Whitefield doubled in a run in the fifth to tie the score at 2-2.  It stayed there until the tenth.  With one out, a hit batsman and a balk put a man on second.  With two out, an intentional walk and an accidental walk loaded the bases, a hit batsman put the Kernels ahead, and Ariel Montesino's two-run single made it 5-2.  The Cougars brought the tying run to bat with two out in the tenth, but a strikeout ended the game.

Domenick Carlini pitched five innings, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts.  Colton Davis pitched two perfect innings to make his ERA 2.05.  Alex Robinson pitched a scoreless inning.  Tom Hackimer struck out three in two shutout innings to make his ERA 1.50.  He has 28 strikeouts and 3 walks in 24 innings.  Whitefield was 3-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Lewin Diaz was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk.
