Minor Details: Games of July 10

A solid game for Dereck Rodriguez.  A better game for Sean Poppen.  Eduardo Del Rosario tries to gain consistency.  A big day for Brent Rooker.  A bigger day for Benjamin Rodriguez.  Royce Lewis has a fine game, too.  Four of the Twins' affiliates combined for four runs and eight hits.  The other two combined for twenty-six runs and thirty hits.

ROCHESTER RED WINGS

No game scheduled--all-star break.

PENSACOLA 3, CHATTANOOGA 2 IN PENSACOLA

T. J. White hit a two-run homer in the fourth to put the Lookouts ahead 2-0.  It held until the sixth, when Nick Longhi hit a three-run homer.  And that was it.  Chattanooga did not get a hit after the fourth inning and had only two hits in the game.

Dereck Rodriguez pitched seven innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and two walks with one strikeout.  Paul Clemens pitched a perfect inning.  White's home run was his fifth.  Alex Perez was 0-for-3 and is batting .355.  Jonathan Rodriguez was 0-for-4 and is batting .301.

FORT MYERS 1, PALM BEACH 0 IN FORT MYERS

The Miracle also only had two hits, but it was enough.  They got their first hit in the seventh.  In the eighth, Nelson Molina was hit by a pitch and scored on a two-out triple by Tanner English.  The Cardinals had five hits, all singles, and only once got a man past first base.

Sean Poppen pitched eight shutout innings, giving up five hits and a walk with four strikeouts.  His ERA is zero in ten high-A innings with a WHIP of 0.80.  Alex Muren pitched a scoreless inning to make his ERA 1.47 with 20 strikeouts in 18.1 innings.  Brandon Lopez was 1-for-4 and is batting .313.

PEORIA 3, CEDAR RAPIDS 0 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The Kernels only had one hit, and it wasn't enough.  The second batter of the game, Stefan Trosclair, hit an inside-the-park home run to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead.  It stayed 1-0 until the ninth, when Peoria got a pair of insurance runs.  They weren't necessary, as the lone Cedar Rapids hit came on a seventh-inning double by Christian Cavaness.

Eduardo Del Rosario had his second consecutive good outing and his third in the last four.  He went six innings, giving up one run on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts.  Logan Lombana struck out two in two shutout innings.  Trey Cabbage was 0-for-3 and is batting .091.

ELIZABETHTON 13, JOHNSON CITY 12 IN ELIZABETHTON (10 INNINGS)

The Cardinals led 6-0 after two and a half innings and 11-5 after six and a half.  The Twins came back and actually led 12-11 after eight, with Matt Albanese bringing in the go-ahead run with a single.  The Cardinals scored in the ninth, however, to tie it 12-12.  In the tenth, Albanese walked and scored from first on a J. J. Robinson single to win the game.  Robinson's ball was actually hit off the right-center field wall--we don't know why he was only credited with a single.

Huascar Ynoa lasted only two innings, giving up six runs (five earned) on five hits and five walks with two strikeouts.  Blair Lasko pitched three shutout innings.  Brent Rooker was 3-for-3 with three walks.  He scored three times and is batting .323.  Shane Carrier was 3-for-6 with a double.  Robinson was 2-for-3 with a home run (his third), a walk, and five RBIs.  Wander Javier was 2-for-5 with a triple and a walk.  Albanese was 2-for-5 with a walk and is batting ,340.  Andrew Bechtold hit a home run.

GCL TWINS 13, GCL ORIOLES 1 AT ORIOLES

The Twins led 4-0 after three and 6-0 after four.  They then scored six runs in the seventh to put the game away.  The lone Orioles run came in the eighth.

Brusdar Graterol pitched five shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks with four strikeouts.  His ERA is 1.29 with a WHIP of 0.64 and 16 strikeouts in 14 innings.  Benjamin Rodriguez had a big day, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, a walk, and seven RBIs.  He is batting .306.  Royce Lewis was 3-for-5 with a home run (his second) and three runs and is batting .348.  Ricky De La Torre was 3-for-5 with three runs.  Alex Robles was 2-for-4 with a walk and is batting .366.  Jhon Alvarez was 2-for-5.

DSL METS1 3, DSL TWINS 1 AT TWINS

Each team scored one in the fourth.  Wilmer Reyes doubled in a run in the fifth and Moises Gonzalez singled one home in the sixth.  The Twins got a man to third with two out in the fifth but did not threaten after that.

Fredderi Soto pitched four innings, giving up one run on seven hits and no walks with two strikeouts.  His ERA is now 0.99.  Robert Gutierrez struck out three in two perfect innings.  Mariano Calcano was 1-for-3 and is batting .303.  Yeltsin Encarnacion was 0-for-3 and is batting .377.  Agustin Marte was 0-for-4 and is batting .306.
