  1. The mileage on the BMW I got for my daughter is just a little higher than the distance to the moon. It has a slightly rough idle and the low end acceleration is sort of doggy, it doesn't really kick in and go until you hit 25 or 30. There are no fault lights on but it does have OBD2 so I'm taking it to the shop today to see if they can diagnose the problem. I'm halfway hoping it's the VANOS unit (variable Nockenwellensteuerung) since it's a simple rebuild and it gives me a chance to take the top off and see inside the engine a bit. I also need to change the transmission fluid and filter. They call it lifetime fluid because when your transmission dies you've killed the car.

This sounds like every car I've ever owned (except it never really kicked in).

  2. 103F here but it only feels like 114F :/

Did our monthly nursing home gig today - two new songs we added were Elton's "Daniel" and Todd Rundgren's "I Saw the Light"

    1. More than 3 inches of rain fell in less than 2 hours and mid city is flooded to the degree that I can't get home.

        1. It's nuts. I've never seen flooding like this from a thunderstorm. Never saw flooding like this from a hurricane not named Katrina (though I didn't actually see that flooding, you get my point).

  3. I was at Surly on Thursday night, and I had the other Hefeweizen, "Yoyosomething"
I was unimpressed. of four half-beers I had, three had the same hops flavor right in front, even if they were very different styles (hefe, dampfbier, and alt bier). On one it would have been ok, but it was quite one-note. The other, the sour Gose, was pretty good though. But I had that first.
