Minor Details: Games of August 3

Daniel Palka goes deep again as Hector Santiago makes a fine rehab start.  Felix Jorge has an outstanding game.  Glen Perkins has a good inning in a rehab appearance as Nelson Molina delivers a walkoff homer.  Tyler Watson makes his debut for Kane County.  No clutch hitting for the E-Twins.  Home runs by Jean Carlos Arias and Colton Burns carry the GCL Twins.   A fine game by Andriu Marin.

ROCHESTER 5, LEHIGH VALLEY 2 IN ROCHESTER

Daniel Palka hit a three-run homer in the third to put the Red Wings up 3-0.  J. P. Crawford put the IronPigs on the board with a home run in the sixth, but Rochester scored two in the bottom of the sixth.  Lehigh Valley scored one in the eighth and brought the tying run to the plate in both the eighth and the ninth.  Pedro Florimon was 1-for-4 and is batting .272.

Hector Santiago struck out nine in 5.2 innings, giving up one run on five hits and a walk.  John Curtiss pitched 1.2 scoreless innings to drop his ERA to 2.30 with a WHIP of 0.89 and 22 strikeouts in 15.2 innings.  J. B. Shuck was 3-for-4 with a double.  Palka was 2-for-4 with a home run, his tenth.  ByungHo Park was 2-for-4.

CHATTANOOGA 4, MONTGOMERY 0 IN MONTGOMERY

Ryan Walker singled in a run in the second and Levi Michael singled in a run in the third.  It remained 2-0 until the ninth, when Walker doubled home two insurance runs.  The Biscuits only once got a man to second base, in the eighth.

Felix Jorge is back on track with his second consecutive solid game.  He pitched 7.2 scoreless innings, giving up four hits and two walks with five strikeouts.  Nick Anderson retired all four men he faced, striking out two, to lower his ERA to 1.19 with a WHIP of 0.79 and 28 strikeouts in 22.2 innings.  Walker was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.  Jonathan Rodriguez was 1-for-2 with two walks and is batting .318.  Alex Perez was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk and is batting .308.

FORT MYERS 4, JUPITER 3 IN FORT MYERS

The Miracle led 1-0 and 3-1, but the Hammerheads came back to tie the score each time.  Fort Myers solved that problem by taking a final lead in the bottom of the ninth.  Nelson Molina led off the ninth with a walkoff home run to win the game.

Glen Perkins pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.  Brady Anderson pitched five innings of relief, giving up one run on four hits and no walks with two strikeouts.  Tom Hackimer pitched a scoreless inning to make his ERA 1.37 with a WHIP of 0.99.  Alex Muren struck out two in a scoreless inning to drop his ERA to 2.25 with 29 strikeouts in 28 innings.  Mitchell Kranson was 2-for-3.  Molina was 2-for-4 with a home run, his fourth.  Jermaine Palacios was 0-for-4 and is batting .307.  Brandon Lopez was 0-for-0 with four walks.  Jupiter pitchers only walked five.

KANE COUNTY 6, CEDAR RAPIDS 1 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Already lead 2-1, the Cougars scored two in the sixth and two in the seventh to put the game out of reach.  The lone Kernel run scored on a double play in the fifth.

Tyler Watson made his Cedar Rapids debut by pitching 5.1 innings and allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk with four strikeouts.  Ryan Mason struck out three in two shutout innings to lower his ERA to 2.00.  Travis Blankenhorn was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Jimmy Kerrigan was 2-for-5 and is batting .346.

BURLINGTON 4, ELIZABETHTON 1 IN ELIZABETHTON

The Royals scored two in the second and one in the third to lead 3-0.  It was 4-0 before an error allowed the only Twins run in the seventh.  The Twins had eight hits but went 0-for-8 with men in scoring position.

Edwar Colina struck out six in six innings, giving up three runs on four hits and three walks.  His ERA is now 2.93 with 43 strikeouts in 40 innings.  Jovani Moran struck out two in a scoreless inning.  His ERA remains at zero with a WHIP of 0.84 and 25 strikeouts in 14.1 innings.  Akil Baddoo was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Shane Carrier was 2-for-4 and is batting .346.  Andrew Bechtold was 0-for-4 and is batting .346.  Jose Miranda was 1-for-4 and is batting .323.

GCL TWINS 3, GCL RAYS 2 AT TWINS>

A wild pitch put the Rays on the board in the fifth, but the Twins took a 2-1 lead on a two-run homer by Jean Carlos Arias in the sixth.  Colton Burns homered in the seventh for an insurance run and it was needed, as the Rays got a run back in the ninth Allen Smoot's RBI double.  Men were on second and third with one out, but a pair of strikeouts ended the game.

Tyler Wells struck out three in three perfect innings to keep his ERA at zero with a WHIP of 0.60 and 7 strikeouts in 5 innings.  Zach Featherstone struck out three in a scoreless inning to make his ERA 2.70.  Arias was 1-for-4 and the home run was his second.  Alex Robles was 1-for-3 and is batting .327.  Benjamin Rodriguez was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .309.  Burns was 1-for-3 with a home run and is batting .306.  Emmanuel Morel was 1-for-3 with a walk and is batting .305.

DSL TWINS 3, DSL ROCKIES 2 AT ROCKIES

The Twins took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Rockies got single runs in the first and fifth to tie it 2-2.  Mariano Calcano doubled and scored on an error to give the Twins a 3-2 lead in the sixth.  The Rockies got a man to second in the seventh, but that was as close as they came.

Jesus Toledo pitched one inning, giving up one run on two hits and four walks with no strikeouts.  His ERA is 1.77.  Andriu Marin struck out five in five innings, giving up an unearned run on two hits and no walks to drop his ERA to 2.35.  Luis Bellorin pitched two scoreless inning to lower his ERA to 2.64 with 32 strikeouts in 30.2 innings.  Junior Navas pitched a scoreless inning to keep his ERA at zero through 8.2 innings.  Yeltsin Encarnacion was 2-for-4 with two doubles and is batting .347.  Alberoni Nunez was 1-for-3 with a walk and is batting .366.  Estamy Urena was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .347.  Darling Cuesto made his season debut with the DSL Twins and was 1-for-3.  Agustin Marte was 1-for-4 with a double and a walk and is batting .307.
