Game 131 – White Sox at Twins

Twins get the Whities again after losing a disappointing 3 of 5 last week in Chicago. Extracting some revenge should be the order of the day as winning these games really puts the Twins in a position of controlling their own destiny, especially since their upcoming next 10 games after the White Sox series are with the Royals and Rays.

Beautiful night for baseball as Ervin Santana on the mound against James Shields. White Sox have played well lately so hopefully the Twins can rise to the occasion. First pitch at 7:10p.

  1. Already seen two different people wearing #23 jerseys tonight: a Dirty Harry and a Bobby Kielty.

  2. On the stovetop today (because rain. teh rains. all of them) red beans and rice. Oh, oh so nice. And I found a 15 pack of this on sale at whole amazon.

    1. I've never seen a 15 pack before, but I'd like to believe.

White beans with Tasso & hocks for us tonight. Perfect with a little buttered toast.

      1. founders all day ipa was the first I saw for 12.99(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !! !! !! ! ! !), and has been my mardi gras go to. The mosaic promise is a contender if the price holds at 15.99 (just not as sweet as less than a dollar a beer...)

      2. You need to get yourself to a woodmans then. They've got 15 packs of both the all day IPA and Centennial IPA for 13.99 (or maybe 14.99).

    2. Oooh.

I'd promised Cochinita pibil this week, but I haven't gotten to it yet. Because Pork Belly.

Last night, I fried up chunks of the leftover belly and served on top of a salad. Best. Croutons. Ever.

i have just enough left for one more meal. Tacos, maybe.

            1. fresh-squeezed orange juice, red wine vinegar, garlic smooshed with salt, dijon, black pepper, the olive oil/pan drippings from frying the cubes, and extra oil (canola). Plus a touch of sugar.

  3. Cory is always prompting Dazzle whether the baserunner is going, or if a bunt is in order - maybe if Dazzle offered this on his own he wouldn't have to be asked all the time. He seems to do this fine when Cory is taking a break

      1. I wanted them to break the streak. if you are going to be futile, mind as well be record breaking futile.

        1. The record was shared with a deadball team and a raised mound team. Teams are averaging 4.7 runs/game this year in the AL. The 1968 NL season averaged 3.4 runs/game and the 1906 AL season averaged 3.66 runs/game. Only reaching 45 innings is impressive.

    1. He was already at a career high before that last one. Obviously he displays some qualities that both Falvey & Levine appreciate, but I'll be curious to see how his receiving rates over this season in comparison to his career averages.

      1. BP has Gimenez at -2 framing runs, StatCorner says -5. BP likes Castro's framing, giving him +8 runs, but StatCorner really doesn't like his framing, giving him -7 runs. Fangraphs, which doesn't include framing as I understand, gives -2 runs to Gimenez and 0 for Castro.

  4. That was an ugly bloop. Everyone trying to make the play was almost worse than no one trying to.

    1. He's really saved his career with this past month.

He'd lost his playing time to Adrianza, and he had to be perilously close to losing any claim on the shortstop job. In glad he's put it together (I mean, not "Byron Buxton" glad, but still).
