  1. I'm smoking Cochinita Pibil today because the doc put the idea in my head. I had no idea how many banana leaves came in a single package, so I bought two. Turns out that I won't even need half of one package. Good thing they're a buck 19 per, so I'm not out too much cash. I've had a bit of trouble maintaining a 250 with the smoke n sear, which isn't normal. I think I'll be alright in the end because pork fat (and there was a lot of fat on this butt).

    1. did mine in the crock pot yesterday. Lacks the smokey-something from being wrapped in banana leaves and on the smoker, but...we will see tonight. (didn't start the crock until about 1:30 pm yesterday Because San Francisco; pulled it at about 10 last night)

  2. I've been reviewing school district forms and policies in preparation for the great Signing of Forms tomorrow at Meet & Greet day at the jalapeño's school. Next up, finish labeling school supplies! I'm about ready to poke my eyes out now . . .

Also, if anyone has great ideas about where to find a 12" wooden ruler with inches and centimeters, let me know. Target failed us on that one.

  3. I am also battling my FSA who have conveniently blocked my account due to technical difficulties. Screw the health care industrial complex.

  4. I like the way the Yankees schedule for September features a lot of the wild card contenders. They have 7 games with Baltimore, 6 each with the Rays and Jays, and 3 with the Rangers, Royals and Twins. Is the $9.99 MLB.tv deal still available?

    1. I'd imagine it's still available. I turned the Yankees-orioles (I had been watching Brewers-reds, but my goodness Rick Sutcliffe is stressful to listen to) game on, but I'm not really sure which team winning is better for the twins. I'll figure something out.

      1. In these situations I usually decide to root for long games that exhaust bullpens and demoralize both clubs. And then the same, the next game, but with a different victor.

  5. Red Wings score five in the seventh to take a 9-1 lead. Jonathan Rodriguez hit a two-run homer in the fifth. Matt Hague led off the seventh with a home run and J. B. Shuck hit a three-run homer later in the inning.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre has scored single runs in the seventh and eighth to cut the lead to 4-2. We need them to hold the IronPigs in the bottom of the eighth and then rally in the ninth.

  6. Matt Hague homers again in the eighth to make it 10-1 going to the ninth.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre gets one in the ninth and has a man on first with one out.

  7. The Red Wings win 10-1.

The RailRiders have the bases loaded with one out in the ninth, trailing 4-3.

  8. So close, but not enough. A strikeout and a ground out end the game. Lehigh Valley wins, 4-3, and goes to the playoffs. Rochester finishes with the same record as Lehigh Valley, but loses the tiebreaker.

    1. The bright side, I suppose, is that the Twins can make the rest of their September call-ups without worrying about the effect it might have on Rochester's playoff chances. I'm not sure how worried they were about that anyway, but now they don't even have to consider it.

  9. Chattanooga wins 2-1 to set a new modern-era club record with 91 wins. Their overall record was 91-49, fifteen games better than the next best team.
