  1. Very nice rendition of the National Anthem tonight. They weren't opera stars, so Dad may not have liked it, but very good anyway.

  2. Listening to tigger sqwaukers. Color guy is worthless. Has nothing to add other than 'yeah, need to do that', 'yeah, that was a fast fastball', 'yeah, that was a nice little swing'. Has no numbers, no insights.

    1. Don't know if you're referring to radio or TV, but I've never been impressed with their radio crew. They're not offensive or anything, just pretty bland.

      1. WXYT radio. Their main guy seems well-informed, has the stats there, etc., but the other dude is like, me.

        1. The other dude is Jim Price, former catcher. He's in his fifteenth year on the radio crew, so I don't imagine he's going to get better.

            1. Switched to the TIBN. What a relief. Dazzle can do both call and color. Has multiple sentences with multi-syllables. Nice for the other guy to be able to leave the booth for a coffee and a smoke.

              1. Yes. For all the grief I give Dazzle sometimes, he and Provus are among the top broadcasting teams in MLB.

  3. Really? You're walking #9 in the order? After walking #8 in the order earlier in the game. Natch.

  4. Something not related to this game, but holy cows the Brewers are only 3.5 games out of first place? I should pay attention to the NL more.

  5. I'm not really in favor of the stars getting special treatment on ball/strike calls, but if that's the way it is, I'm glad to see Mauer getting the benefit of it again.

    1. Well, I guess I'll settle for a one-run single. Dazzle sounded like he thought Mauer should've scored, though.

      1. I'm still trying to figure out why Mauer didn't score. Vargas should have scored on that. It should have been 2 runs in and first and third. Doesn't matter now, but it was just very surprising to see Mauer not score on that.

  6. Probably read but don't remember - on the soccer shirt design motif in the banner, what was the significance of the three stars, and why one blue and two red?

  7. I do not understand this pitching change. I assume Mejia must have run into a pitch limit, but even so I'd have given him at least one more batter. Molitor really tends to overmanage in important games.

    1. I mean, if you have to get one, do whatever you have to do. Still, I totally agree that Molitor tends to overmanage big games. More importantly, he tends to go crazy on overmanaging when he's lost "momentum".

I think the New York series threw him, and he's overcompensating.

      1. I didn't see any reason to think Mejia couldn't have gotten the last out. And I get the pitch count, but in a game like this, I'd still have given him one more batter. A pitch count is a guideline, not a barrier that must never be crossed under any circumstances.

  8. I don't understand why Gee, our "long man", came out after an inning and a third, either. Pressly pitched Friday, Sunday, and Tuesday, so it's not like he needs an inning of work.

    1. On second thought, I do. He just pitched Tuesday. Only two-thirds of an inning, but still, I can see the change.

    1. 1) Rope-a-dope
      2) Hoping to push the Yanks past the BoSox so Twins fans can get a different flavor of disappointment.

      1. Yeah... second game. Third game was a tiebreaker and we lost it. I think I had 2 hands all night over 6.

        1. Ha, that sounds like Steve and I at the season end tourney this spring.

Thanks again, I have a few people who said they'd sub for me, but literally every one of them was busy or not in town.
