Off-Season’s Greetings: Games of November 10

All the Twins action was in the AFL.

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

Twins:  LaMonte Wade was 0-for-2.  Chris Paul was 2-for-4 with a home run, his second.  Sean Miller was 0-for-3 with a walk.

SURPRISE 11, PEORIA 5 IN PEORIA

Surprise scored seven runs in the fifth to go ahead 8-0.  Chris Paul led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a home run, his second.  Sandy Alcantara (St. Louis) struck out four in four shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks.  Jonathan Davis (Toronto) was 3-for-4 with two doubles for Peoria.  Austin Riley (Atlanta) was 2-for-4 with a home run.

GLENDALE 3, SCOTTSDALE 1 IN GLENDALE

Glendale scored two in the second and led the rest of the way.  Mitch Keller (Pittsburgh) pitched four shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk while striking out two.  Steven Duggar (San Francisco) hit a home run, his second, for Scottsdale.

MESA 3, SALT RIVER 3 IN SALT RIVER

The game ended in a tie despite the goofy "start with a man on second" rule.  It was tied 1-1 after nine.  Neither team scored in the tenth and each team scored two in the eleventh.  Victor Robles (Washington) hit a home run, his third, for Mesa.  Logan Shore (Oakland) pitched four innings for Mesa, giving up one run on six hits and no walks with two strikeouts.  For Salt River, Michael Perez (Arizona) was 3-for-5 and Zach Jemiola (Colorado) pitched four shutout innings, giving up four hits and three walks while striking out two.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Twins:  None.

ZULIA 5, LARA 1 IN ZULIA (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

Zulia scored four in the first and led all the way.  Carlos Moncrief was 1-for-2 with a three-run homer and a walk.  Reiner Roibal struck out seven in six innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks.

LARA 4, ZULIA 1 IN ZULIA (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

Deiner Lopez hit a two-run single in a three-run seventh that broke a 1-1 tie.  Jorge Martinez pitched five shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks while striking out three.  Jose Flores hit a home run for Zulia.  Logan Duran pitched 5.1 innings for Zulia, giving up one run on five hits and two walks while striking out two.

CARACAS 6, MARGARITA 0 IN CARACAS

Gregorio Petit doubled in two runs in a three-run sixth that put Caracas ahead 5-0.  Ramon Cabrera was 3-for-4 with a home run.  Albert Suarez pitched six shutout innings, giving up five hits and a walk while striking out three.

ANZOATEGUI 11, MAGALLANES 6 IN ANZOATEGUI

Anzoategui scored four in the first to take a 4-1 lead.  Magallanes cut it to 4-3, but Anzoategui scored three in the fourth and three in the sixth to take control of the game.  Luis Hernandez was 4-for-5 with a home run and a triple, driving in three.  Balbino Fuenmayor was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.  Willians Astudillo was 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs.  Andres Blanco and Ronny Cedeno were each 2-for-4 with a home run and a walk for Magallanes, Blanco's third home run.  Luis Torrens also hit a home run for Magallanes.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  None.

JALISCO 1, OBREGON 0 IN OBREGON

Jalisco scored a run on a wild pitch in the first inning and that was enough.  Octavio Acosta pitched 6.2 scoreless innings, giving up five hits and no walks while striking out five.  Irwin Delgado pitched five innings for Obregon, giving up one run on four hits and two walks while striking out four.

HERMOSILLO 5, NAVOJOA 3 IN HERMOSILLO

Alejandro Flores hit a three-run homer in the second and Hermosillo scored two more in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead.  It was Flores' third home run.  Ryan Verdugo pitched 6.2 innings, giving up two runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out two.

CULIACAN 6, LOS MOCHIS 3 IN LOS MOCHIS

Los Mochis led 3-0 after three, but Joey Meneses hit a three-run homer in the fourth to tie it up and Issmael Salas delivered a two-run single in the sixth to put Culiacan ahead to stay.  Ronnier Mustellier was 3-for-4.  The home run by Meneses was his second.  Olmo Rosario was 3-for-4 with a walk for Los Mochis.  Noel Cuevas hit a home run, his third.

MAZATLAN 6, MEXICALI 2 IN MEXICALI

Mazatlan led 2-1 and then scored four in the ninth to put the game out of reach.  Jeremias Pineda was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Oscar Verdugo pitched 5.2 innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks while striking out three.  Sergio Mitre pitched six innings for Mexicali, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits and no walks while striking out five.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  None.

LICEY 7, AGUILAS 4 IN LICEY

Aguilas scored three in the fifth to take a 4-3 lead, but Licey scored four in the eighth to win the game.  Jorge Bonifacio was 3-for-3 with a triple, a double, and a walk, driving in three.  Yohan Flande struck out four in four innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks.  Francisco Pena was 4-for-4 and Juan Perez was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a walk for the Aguilas.

GIGANTES 4, ESTRELLAS 0 AT GIGANTES

The Gigantes scored two in the fourth and two in the eighth.  The Estrellas out-hit the Gigantes seven to five.  Moises Sierra was 3-for-4 with a double for the Gigantes.  Patrick Johnson pitched four shutout innings, giving up five hits and one walk while striking out three.  Michael Martinez was 3-for-4 for the Estrellas.  Nestor Cortes pitched 5.2 innings for the Estrellas, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out one.

ESCOGIDO 5, TOROS 0 AT TOROS

Danny Richar hit a two-run triple in the first and another two-run triple in the sixth to lead Escogido.  Richar was 2-for-3 and also walked.  Kelvin Marte pitched 5.2 scoreless innings, giving up six hits and no walks while striking out two.  Jefry Marte was 3-for-4 for the Toros.
