Off-Season’s Greetings: Games of November 29

No Twins, as they just don't have a lot of guys in winter ball this year.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Twins:  None.

LARA 21, ANZOATEGUI 4 IN LARA

Lara scored six in the first and nine in the third on their way to an easy win.  Carlos Rivero was 3-for-4 with a home run (his fourth) and four RBIs.  Henry Urrutia was 3-for-4 with a walk and three RBIs.  Alejandro De Aza was 3-for-4 with a double.  Juniel Querecuto was 3-for-6 with a double.  Jesus Montero was 3-for-6.  Raul Rivero pitched five innings, giving up one run on six hits and a walk while striking out one.  For Anzoategui, Luis Jimenez was 3-for-3 with a two-run homer (his seventh) and a double.

MARGARITA 3, CARACAS 1 IN MARGARITA

Francisco Diaz had a two-run single in a three-run second that provided all of Margarita's runs, but it was all they needed.  Jay Gause pitched five innings, giving up one run on five hits and two walks while striking out three.  Albert Suarez struck out seven in five innings for Caracas, giving up three runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks.

ZULIA 8, MAGALLANES 0 IN ZULIA

All eight runs were scored in the third inning.  Reynaldo Rodriguez had a three-run triple in the inning.  Jairo Perez and Hector Gimenez were each 3-for-5.  Rodriguez was 2-for-4.  Logan Duran pitched five shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks while striking out four.

ARAGUA 6, LA GUAIRA 1 IN LA GUAIRA

Leading 2-1, Aragua scored three in the seventh to put the game out of reach.  Francisco Rodriguez pitched five innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks while striking out two.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  None.

JALISCO 3, HERMOSILLO 1 IN JALISCO

Jalisco scored two in the sixth to take a 2-1 lead.  An RBI single by Japhet Amador tied the score and a single by Donald Dewees, Jr. brought home the lead run.  William Oliver pitched five innings, giving up one run on two hits and four walks while striking out four.  For Hermosillo, Barry Enright pitched five innings, giving up two unearned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out three.

OBREGON 4, NAVOJOA 3 IN OBREGON

With the score tied 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth, Yosmany Guerra singled, stole second, and came around to score on a wild-pitch-plus-error to win the game for Obregon.  Justin Greene was 2-for-3.  For Navojoa, Max Ramirez was 3-for-4 with a double.

MEXICALI 6, LOS MOCHIS 2 IN LOS MOCHIS

Mexicali scored three in the second and led all the way.  Leo German was 3-for-4 with a double.  Chris Roberson was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer (his sixth), a double, and a walk.  Rolando Valdez pitched six shutout innings, giving up five hits while striking out two.

CULIACAN 5, MAZATLAN 0 IN CULIACAN

Josh Fuentes hit a two-run homer in the third and Culiacan led the rest of the way.  Fuentes was 2-for-3 and the home run was his fourth.  Anthony Vasquez struck out nine in seven shutout innings, giving up five hits and two walks.  Fernando Luciano was 3-for-4 for Mazatlan.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  None.

LICEY 9, ESTRELLAS 2 IN LICEY

Licey scored two in the second, four in the fifth, and three in the sixth to build a 9-0 lead.  Sergio Alcantara was 3-for-3.  Jorge Bonifacio was 3-for-4 with a home run and a double, driving in four.  Mike Marjama hit a three-run homer.  Onelki Garcia pitched 6.1 scoreless innings, giving up four hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

TOROS 9, AGUILAS 3 AT TOROS

Jeimer Candelario's two-run single in the fifth broke a 3-3 tie and put the Toros in the lead to stay.  Cristhian Adames was 4-for-5 with a walk and three runs.  Candelario was 3-for-5 with a triple, a walk, and three RBIs.  Raul Valdes pitched a complete game, a rarity in winter ball, striking out eleven while giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk.  Zoilo Almonte was 3-for-4 for the Aguilas.

GIGANTES 7, ESCOGIDO 5 AT GIGANTES

The Gigantes trailed 5-2 after six, but scored three in the seventh to tie it and two in the eighth to take the lead.  Ketel Marte's homer leading off the eighth provided the lead run.  Jose Siri was 3-for-5 with a home run (his second) and two doubles.  Moises Sierra was 3-for-4 with a triple.  For Escogido, Kelvin Marte pitched five innings, giving up one run on five hits while striking out one.

AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE
