I watched the Dr. Who Christmas special (recorded, obv), then turned out the lights around 10:30. Some yahoos in the neighborhood decided that New Year's is now the 4th of July, however. My cats went into hiding for most of the night and I could hear neighbor dogs barking in fear. A-holes.
After four 12-14 hour days, I went straight home and after watching the first half of Hangover III, I was in bed by 11:15. We also had neighborhood hooligans shooting off fireworks at midnight. In -20 degree weather??
Just walked outside to move my truck at work. No wind, sun is out and I was in a light sweater. Thought "Wow, it warmed up in a hurry. It's almost warm out here." Checked my phone at it was still 9 below. It's all relative I guess.
I fell asleep a bit before midnight, but the neighbors fired off fireworks every 30 seconds. Thanks lots.
Also watched the Dr. Who special, and three episodes of The Librarians, the show everyone loves to nitpick but still watch.
I woke up hourly this morning checking the temps; we bottomed out at -6
I don't know about you, but I found the Christmas special to be a letdown.
Also, Bill gets one season and is done? She never got a real chance to stretch into that role.
I don't get up on Dr. Who enough to be let down.
Hey, Papa Young resembles that yahoo every year. However, he shoots off the small stuff that only gets about five feet in the air.
The first thing I did after getting up this morning was to go back to bed for another two hours, so this year is already a success.
The whole family made it to midnight this year. But then my wife woke me up around 1 or 2 when she noticed one of the bedroom windows was cracked, so that's fun. Then, as a result of staying up late, the trinket stayed her year off with a massive meltdown about an hour ago. So yay to 2018!
EAR got a text last night from her sister around 8pm... her husband (EAR's BiL) was at the hospital with an infection from an abdominal surgery before Christmas. EAR drove to her house to stay with her sleeping kids so she could go to the hospital. I put my kids to bed around 9:30, finished season 2 of Rick & Morty, and then started catching up on season 2 of Scandal, which EAR had been watching at sister's house as soon as she arrived.
BiL underwent emergency surgery around midnight. I headed to bed right before EAR called to say she'd be coming home, around 2:30. Neither of us had slept. Feeling relieved that the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God was removed from the Catholic calendar as a holy day of obligation for the year. Instead, we cleaned up a lot of the Christmas debris that was still all around our house.
What's with the grill sticking out on the front of the new Lexus? Looks like a d@mn Cylon
Working at a liquor store on New Year's Eve is fun but exhausting. I got home after a late dinner with lady friend, had a beer, and fell asleep before 11pm. Happy New Year!
Still the best movie review: Pacific Rim -- either the dumbest awesome movie, or the most awesome dumb movie.
I wish Corey Brewer was back in a Timberwolves uniform. Do you think the Lakes would trade him for Shabazz?
