VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

LARA 7, MAGALLANES 5 IN MAGALLANES

Lara scored six runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-0 lead,  Magallanes came back within two and left the bases loaded in the ninth inning.  Ildemaro Vargas was 3-for-5 for Lara.  For Magallanes, Endy Chavez was 4-for-5 with three doubles.  Jesus Valdez was 4-for-5 with a double.  Mario Lisson hit a two-run homer.

Lara leads the series 3-0.

ANZOATEGUI 3, CARACAS 2 IN ANZOATEGUI

Willians Astudillo hit a two-run homer in the seventh to tie it 2-2 and a sacrifice fly in the eighth brought home the lead run.  Astudillo was 2-for-2 with a walk in addition to the home run.  Freddy Garcia pitched 5.1 innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk and striking out two.  For Caracas, Alejandro Soto pitched 5.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and four walks and striking out three.

Anzoategui leads the series 2-1.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

NAVOJOA 9, JALISCO 4 IN JALISCO

Navojoa scored four in the first and led all the way.  Alejandro Gonzalez was 4-for-5 with a double.  Max Ramirez, was 2-for-5 with two home runs, his second and third of the post-season, and drove in three.  Eddie Gamboa pitched five innings, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks and striking out one.

Navojoa leads the series 3-1.

CULIACAN 6, MEXICALI 4 IN CULIACAN

Issmael Salas singled home a run in the sixth to break a 4-4 tie.  Ronnier Mustelier was 2-for-3 with a walk and three runs.  Joey Meneses hit a home run, his second of the post-season.  For Mexicali, Chris Roberson was 3-for-4.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

AGULIAS 7, LICEY 6 IN LICEY

The Aguilas scored five in the fifth to take a 6-2 lead.  Licey scored three in the ninth to come within one at 7-6 and had the tying run on second with none out.  Johan Camargo was 4-for-5 with a triple and double, driving in three.  Jonathan Villar was 4-for-5.  Zoilo Almonte was 3-for-4 with a home run, his third of the post-season.

AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Logan Wade (Brisbane) was 2-for-6 with a home run (his sixth) and two runs.  Aaron Whitefield (Brisbane) was 1-for-5 with a walk and two runs.  Todd Van Steensel (Sydney) pitched 1.2 innings, allowing five runs on five hits and five walks and striking out two.

CANBERRA 19, ADELAIDE 2 IN CANBERRA

Canberra scored four in the first and led all the way.  Their biggest inning was the sixth, when they scored four to take a 12-1 lead.  Buddy Reed was 5-for-6 with three home runs (his eighth, ninth, and tenth), scoring five times and driving in four.  Jay Baum was 4-for-6 with a double and a home run (his seventh), scoring three times and driving in four.  Casey McElroy was 4-for-6 with three doubles and three runs.  Robbie Perkins was 3-for-5 with a home run (his fourth) and three RBIs.  David Kandilas was 2-for-4 with a walk and a three-run homer, his tenth.  Travis Witherspoon was 2-for-4 with a home run (his second), a walk, and three runs.  Steven Kent struck out nine in seven innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk.  For Adelaide, Stephen Lohr was 2-for-4 with two home runs, his third and fourth.

BRISBANE 15, MELBOURNE 8 IN MELBOURNE

Brisbane scored five in the third to take a 7-4 lead and eventually built it to 11-4.  Donald Lutz was 3-for-4 with three home runs (his eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth) and a walk, driving in four.  Chih-Sheng Lin was 3-for-6 with a double and a home run (his tenth), driving in three.  David Sutherland was 3-for-5 with a double.  T. J. Bennett was 2-for-5 with a home run, his eleventh.  Logan Wade was 2-for-6 with a home run, his sixth.  For Melbourne, Jerryd Dale was 4-for-4 with two doubles.  Delmon Young was 3-for-5 with a home run, his tenth.

SYDNEY 22, PERTH 19 IN PERTH

Sydney had leads of 2-0, 3-1, 11-2, 18-8, and 19-13.  Yet, it was tied 19-19 going to the ninth.  Mitchell Edwards homered to give Sydney the lead and Chih-Hseng Chiang hit a two-run homer to provide insurance.  Trent D'Antonio was 5-for-6 with a double and a walk, scoring four times.  Connor McDonald was 4-for-6 with three home runs, his seventh, eighth, and ninth, driving in five.  Jacob Younis wsa 4-for-6 with a double and three runs.  Zac Shepherd was 3-for-5 with a home run (his second), a double, and a walk, driving in four.  Edwards was 3-for-6 with a home run.  Chiang was 3-for-7 with two home runs (his ninth and tenth), scoring three times and driving in seven.  For Perth, Jesse Williams was 3-for-6 with a grand slam (his fourth homer) and five RBIs.  Jake Fraley was 3-for-5 with a triple and a walk, driving in three.  Tim Kennellly was 2-for-4 with a home run (his fourth), a double, and a walk.  Michael Hart was 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and a walk.  Alex Hall was 2-for-4 with a home run (his fifth), scoring four times.  Ulrich Bojarski was 2-for-5 with a triple and a walk, scoring three times.  The two teams combined for 46 hits, 12 of them home runs.

In three games, there were 28 home runs hit and 85 runs scored.

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Kennys Vargas (Mayaguez) was 2-for-4 with a home run (his fourth) and two walks.  Dereck Rodriguez (Mayaguez) struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up one hit and one walk.

CAGUAS 7, CAROLINA 3 IN CAROLINA (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

Caguas scored all seven runs in the sixth inning.  Rusney Castillo was 3-for-4.  Luis Gonzalez pitched five innings, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk.  For Carolina, Anthony Garcia hit a home run, his second.  Miguel Martinez pitched five shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk and striking out four.

CAROLINA 10, CAGUAS 4 IN CAROLINA (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

Carolina scored two runs in five of the six innings in which they batted.  Aldemar Burgos was 3-for-3 with a home run and a walk, scoring four times.  For Caguas, David Vidal hit a two-run homer and Ricardo Bautista hit a home run, the fourth for both.

SANTURCE 2, MAYAGUEZ 1 IN SANTURCE (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

Santurce scored both their runs in the third inning.  Hector Hernandez pitched five innings, giving up one run on one hit, striking out three.  For Mayaguez, Kennys Vargas was 1-for-2 with a walk and a home run, his fourth.

SANTURCE 4, MAYAGUEZ 0 IN SANTURCE (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

Santurce scored one in the second and three in the sixth.  Brandon Bonilla struck out five in three shutout innings, giving up one hit and three walks.  Nelvin Fuentes struck out four in three perfect innings.  Kennys Vargas got the lone Mayaguez hit.
