Off-Season’s Greetings: Games of January 28

With the end of the Mexican League series, we only have the Dominican League and the Australian League left.  The Caribbean Series is scheduled to start February 1.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

CULIACAN 6, NAVOJOA 4 IN NAVOJOA (12 INNINGS)

Navojoa led 3-2 and 4-3. Culiacan got a sacrifice fly in the ninth to tie it 4-4. In the twelfth, Alfredo Amezaga singled home the lead run and a sacrifice fly brought in an insurance run. Joey Meneses was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, his second of the series. For Navojoa, Jesus Castillo was 2-for-5 with two home runs, his second and third of the series, and three RBIs. Navojoa used eleven pitchers in the game, six of them for less than an inning and four of them for just one batter.

Navojoa wins the Mexican League Championship, defeating Culiacan four games to three.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

LICEY AT AGUILAS

The Caribbean Series is scheduled to being February 1, but the Dominican League is having a heck of a time getting its playoff series in.

AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE

CANBERRA AT BRISBANE

The playoffs start February 2.  The matchups will be Perth v. Canberra and Brisbane v. Melbourne.  The semi-finals are best-of-three, as are the finals.
