March 21, 2018: Resolution

Yesterday I decided I needed to be done with retail soon. I don't know if it'll take, but it all clicked yesterday and I feel like I can finally see the end of this thing.

  1. Last night, the Minnesota Empire Builders won the 1998 World Series in my ootp league, their first championship since 1978. Brad Radke was the starter in the final game, and Corey Koskie singled in the winning run in the bottom of the twelfth inning immediately after Torii Hunter had been intentionally walked.

Of other former Twins on my squad, John Smiley won games one and four (somehow out-dueling Greg Maddux twice!), and Scott Stahoviak went 0-for-3 off the bench during the series.

    1. Congrats, Will!

(He had to make it through my Boston Bees to get there.)

Now get out of the way as I haven't had one since '83 (my first year).

  2. The Austin bomber is dead, though I suppose you’ve all heard this by now. I know Trump and others celebrate his death, but it irks me that he won’t pay for his crimes with a long sentence.

All the same, I’m glad he’s out of the picture and I have a special kind of loathing for random attackers.

      1. Stretched the lead to 12 early in the second half. Sauk Rapids is starting to struggle with the full-court press and the pace.

          1. Man, a tough outing for my Cougars. Delano's PG Wishart is a baller. He'll be playing D1 in the Sun Belt next season for Georgia Southern.

            1. Bummer, Boots. I was looking forward to the grudge re-match.

My understanding is that Delano got spanked by Sauk River earlier in the season (by 18 at home back in mid-January). That bodes well for the Spamtowners, but who knows?

            2. boy, you weren't kidding about the Wishart kid. Averaged 31.1 ppg in the regular season, 42.0 in sections, and had 35 (and 12 and 6, I think) against your boys.

The Austin pg is solid, but not D-I material. I wonder how well the press will work against Delano.

              1. That kid missed 3 or 4 games in the middle of the season. Dunno if one was against Sauk River. He's a got a seriously tight handle and the Mankato pressure D (which has eaten up teams) barely slowed him. He did roll his ankle late in the second half. We'll see if that lingers.

                Damn right, meat.

    1. If you moved to the west coast, many regular season games would become 5 pm games, too.

  3. Dick Bremer already going off about strikeout and not putting the ball in play. MUTE

I wonder if he would criticize Harmon Killebrew who was a low average hitter and struck out a bunch

  4. Looks like I'm sharing the hotel with the Duke basketball team tonight. :/ I also saw the KU team bus parked outside Sullivan's steakhouse as well. There goes the neighborhood
