    1. Nice. I know that they saved money by not having everyone in every episode last season, but I really hope they load up every season with everyone again to make it feel more like it did originally. The huge number of moving parts, and how they intersected, was one of the best things about the show.

  1. I took the story to mean that there was no more Circle Me Bert promotion, but figured he would still go on circling as he always had even before the promotion. Not that I care either way, of course.

  2. Wild pick up another point last night (shootout loss in Nashville).

They finish 3 games in 4 days against two teams in the top 5 in the league, and they go 1-0-2. Not too bad.

The Stars and Blues won last night, but the Ducks lost.

Current magic numbers: (the Wild need to get two of these to zero to clinch):
    St. Louis _ 10
    Colorado _ 9
    Los Angeles _ 8
    Anaheim _ 8
    Dallas _ 3

These teams all play each other a bunch in the remaining two weeks, so those numbers will necessarily go down on their own. Basically, the Wild have 6 games left, and they could probably get in with just two wins. Three wins would leave no doubt.

    1. Colorado loses tonight to drop the clinching number to 7.

Vegas loses as well, meaning that currently finishing third in the Central gets you a first round matchup with Winnipeg (104 pts, 2nd best record in the West) and probably a second round against Nashville (109 pts, best in the West). Meanwhile the first wild card (probably the 4th place team in the Central) will get Vegas in round one (103, now behind Winnipeg) and then San Jose (98) or LA/Ana (91) in round two.

Of course, the difference between first wild card and out of the playoffs is one point right now, so teams can't really jockey for position, have to win to get in.

      1. Wild playing pretty well against some top teams, and they don't have to worry about 3-on-3 OT or shootouts (where they've been less than stellar). I'm just hoping they can get off to a good start. Seems like that isn't always the case.

  3. Opening Day So Close You Can Taste It Trivia:
Name the two MLB mascots who are actually human caricatures. Bonus points for the two "baseball heads" who I'm not counting as humans.

        1. 'Spoiler' SelectShow
    1. Padre and Bernie the Brewer...Pirates...wait, Minnie and Paul? Chief Wahoo...
Not sure now if meaning Team nickname-mascot, or physical creature in stadium-mascot...durn. Meh.
Red and Mr. Met on the baseball-heads, though

  4. I will be in meetings tomorrow afternoon. Got the game DVR'd and going to do my best not to turn on the radio or come here or basically use the internet for several hours until I put the kids to bed at 8.

    1. Lineup for tomorrow:

  5. Considering going to the game tomorrow. Not sure I want to take on 3 train transfers including one labeled as West Baltimore.

    1. If you're in DC, take the MARC train from Union Station and it drops you off across the street.

(When I first visited DC as a ten year old, we were waiting for that train to see a game and grabbing some food at Sbarro in Union Station when a gang knife fought broke out around us. Pretty cool for a bumpkin from suburban Minneapolis.)

        1. Ouch. My roommate, Sheenie, and I once went up to a game on a weekend when there's no MARC train. We ended up taking a Greyhound bus that definitely dropped us off in the middle of Barksdale territory. After reaching Baltimore, we had to walk about 2 miles through some very sketchy places to get to Camden.
(Googling now, it looks like that Greyhound stop is no longer in use.)

  6. Enjoying watching Gee-Dubber Tyler Cavanaugh making corner 3's against this pathetically boring team.

      1. A little forced at the start of the fourth quarter, but now this has been fun at the end.

  7. 56 points is great, too bad KAT couldnt get a couple more buckets to get into the rarefied air of 60 points
