This was the first year my wife decided not to hide Easter baskets and eggs in the middle of the night (with my cloudy headed help). So, of course, I wake up at 5am and could not fall back asleep. Still, it was nice to lay in bed all morning rather than tip toeing around the house in the middle of the night. Kids are 17 and 18. I thought we would have scrapped it a few years earlier, but alas, my wife has a heart of gold.
Going to need to add "Relief Pitcher because the manager is an idiot" to Pedro's b-r page
Went hiking earlier to McLean's Game Reserve, not far from Simsbury. Nike hike in thick woods - sheltered ponds. Saw a huge heron, some wood ducks, and a duck I haven't been able to ID yet.
Whiteish bill, dark/black head, white body, dark pintail feathers. Any ideas?
Mebbe Greater Scaup, breeding male.
Yeah. In Minnesota, more than 95% of the Scaup are Lessers. On saltwater, about 95% of Scaup are Greaters. I don't know what the mix is on freshwater ponds near the ocean though.
Now I'm thinking it was a ring-billed duck. Smaller, and a diver.
My dad surprised me last night with SEVEN bottles of Surly Darkness. Naturally I hit him with the Simpsons line “Beer...how did you know?!”

I use the line every Christmas. My mother-in-law likes to stick with what works.

The Twins have 4 players with an OPS better than 1.000: Dozier, Mauer, Escobar and Kepler. That doesn't include Grossman (1-for-2) and LaMarre (2-for-2).
