Minor Details: Games of April 9

The Red Wings finally get to play!  Early runs back a fine game by Kohl Stewart for the Lookouts.  Jimmy Kerrigan's two-run homer is the difference for the Miracle.  Ben Rortvedt's two-run single gives the Kernels the lead to stay.

SYRACUSE 2, ROCHESTER 1 IN ROCHESTER

The Chiefs broke a 1-1 tie in the ninth on a three-base error and a sacrifice fly.  The Red Wings had seven hits and nine walks but only managed to score one run.  They were 0-for-10 with men in scoring position and stranded sixteen runners.

Gregorio Petit was 2-for-4.  Kennys Vargas was 1-for-2 with three walks.  Aaron Slegers pitched six innings, giving up one run on five hits and a walk and striking out one.  Tyler Duffey pitched three innings, giving up an unearned run on no hits and no walks and striking out one.

CHATTANOOGA 5, BIRMINGHAM 2 IN CHATTANOOGA

The Lookouts scored all five of their runs in the first three innings.  The Barons made four errors, making two of the runs unearned.

LaMonte Wade and Brent Rooker were each 3-for-4.  T. J. White was 2-for-4 with a double.  Zander Weil was 2-for-4.  Kohl Stewart had an excellent game, striking out nine in five innings while giving up one run on three hits and no walks.  He threw seventy-five pitches.  Williams Ramirez struck out three but also walked three in 1.2 scoreless innings, getting away with it by giving up no hits.

FORT MYERS 6, FLORIDA 4 IN FORT MYERS

The Fire Frogs had leads of 2-0 and 4-3, but Jimmy Kerrigan hit a two-run homer in the sixth to put the Miracle ahead to stay.  Fort Myers added an insurance run in the eighth.

Kerrigan was 2-for-3 with a walk in addition to the home run.  Travis Blankenhorn was 3-for-4 with a triple and a double.  Clark Beeker struck out five in five innings, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk.  Alex Robinson struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up only a walk.

CEDAR RAPIDS 3, PEORIA 1 IN PEORIA

Ben Rortvedt's two-run single put the Kernels up 2-1 and Mark Contreras had an RBI double in the eighth for an insurance run.  Andrew Bechtold was 3-for-4 and scored twice.  Rortvedt and Contreras were each 2-for-4.  Blayne Enlow pitched 4.1 innings, giving up one run on five hits and two walks and striking out two.  Kevin Marnon pitched 2.2 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk and striking out one.  Jared Finkel pitched two shutout innings, giving up three hits.
