  1. How many games will the Twins play against Chicago this series? 2 (tonight/Sunday)? Do they try to squeeze in a double header Sunday?

    1. I'm thinking they could get Friday's in too.

Tempted to use Novak's friends logic and buy a ticket for Saturday's game for cheap and then go to the make up game. If it's made up on Sunday however, that would kind of defeat the purpose.

      1. I just checked Stub Hub and there is a ticket for $17 in Section 119, Row Three for Saturday's game. That's $68 face value. Also there is a ticket right behind the visitor dugout for $29. Those are $89 tix.

      2. I believe if a game is rained out, you can use your ticket for any subsequent game, not just the makeup game. Or at the very least, exchange it for face value since the same seat could very well be sold.

        1. Rainout policy. They can be exchanged, but only if rescheduled to an open day and you exchange at least two days ahead of the game. And it's really a voucher using whatever the first person paid.

  2. Towns and Butler were the dudes. Jokic was a monster. He’s got serious range. That Denver team is good.

      1. Only the third time in NBA history that player has played at least 48 minutes and not scored.

  3. If Wolves would have won just three (maybe two depending on tie-breakers), of those bad loses to bottom feeder teams (Griz, Orlando, Phoenix...) they would've been a #3 Seed.

      1. They lost the first two games I attended (against Detroit and Washington) after leading each for about 45 minutes. Jimmy Isoball at the end of close games without even involving KAT is a travesty.

        1. Almost cost them last night, too. When you have two players like Butler and KAT, why wouldn't you run PnR? I don't understand it.

  4. As a team, Cleveland is slashing .170/.262/.290/.552 (all last in the AL) yet they are 7-5. Sigh.

      1. Dick had a similar moment of pure confusion regarding Detroit the other day. He was not able to connect the dots, however.

        1. Sounds like him.

In the past, their confusion has stemmed from seeing bad teams with a high batting average, while ignoring slugging. I want to say they saw the opposite from Toronto a handful of years ago - the team was near the top of the division while batting .240 or something - and the knuckleheads were at a complete loss for how this could happen.

          1. It already makes me miss the sweet, sweet bliss of Extra Innings ballpark sounds.

Speaking of which, I was watching the Free Game of the Day yesterday and I couldn't find that option. Did they remove it? Because I'll riot if they did.

  5. Just noticed the Wolves don't play until Sunday. Well, that'll prolong the inevitable.

I suspect my brothers and I will catch game 3. Minnesota teams are oh-fer in my playoff attendance history, but what the hell.

  6. I got a new laptop last night - HP Envy x360. Seems like a pretty dandy machine.

The downside: apparently F5 doesn't mean Browser Refresh anymore, and toggles the backlight for the keyboard. Now, I love the backlight, but where's my browser refresh?! I FEEL LIKE I'M GONNA EXPLODE HERE

      1. Yeah, sounds like the function keys aren't the default. You could do control+r instead if can't get the function key working.

      1. Heh. You'd be surprised at how much I rely on the button anyway.

Though, yes, Werewolf is definitely on my to-do list in the near future. I have to finish playing one stupid FB game I'm playing and then I might have the time.

          1. Same. Working on trying to find a time while also battling a bout of anxiety and depression for the first time in quite a few years. I’ll figure it all out, I promise.

      1. Yeah, it actually felt a little embarrassing to type, great though the product may be. I see them go out the door ten times a day and I still think it's silly.

  7. Russ averaged a triple double again this season, snagging 34 rebounds in the final two games to get it. Last night, he had 6 points, 20 rebounds and 19 assists.

  8. I may be woefully late to the P. O. S. party, but I’m glad I got here. Never better is really scratching an itch for me.

    1. Man, I do love that album so much. I need to dust it off and give it another listen. How has it been 9 years, already?

  9. The Toro started up on the fourth pull, and mowed for the first time this year (cover your ears, northerners). This is its 28th year, which means we've been tackling the turf together for half of my life. I'll get the oil changed and blade sharpened the next couple days when it's raining.

    1. The Mrs insisted that I get a new mower in preparation for my ankle surgery back in October. Electric, to replace my beloved push reel mower. Our teeny lawn gets done in no time. No oil, no gas to worry about. Just a battery pack.

      1. I've been wondering: should I invest $100 to tuneup and sharpen an old and poorly maintained mower (came with the house), or just put that money into a new one?

          1. somewhere in the middle, closer to the former. i think it had been dormant for a few years because when i finally got it going again, it blew out some hellsmoke for a time.

        1. I'm no help here. I just spent $140 to tune up a 'vintage' Fuji 10-speed bicycle that I believe will keep me on the road for another 10 years. Picked it up from an acquaintance-owned shop for maybe $150 about 7 years ago ... can find similar on ebay for less than that now.

My wife - the real cyclist in the family - gasped that I'd spend anything on it. She asked me, "Why would you put any money into that ugly old thing (it's a marigold-ish orange/yellow)? Why don't you just put that money into a new one?" I didn't have an answer. Something in me balks at the idea of buying something new when what I've got works fine with a little investment. She probably has a point though.

          1. I'm getting to an age where a new lawnmower has a good chance of outliving me, so I'd be more inclined to coax a few more years out of the old one.

    1. And she's still going to play. First team ever to have a coach better than anyone on the team?

        1. Whalen certainly is not the best player on the team anymore, great as she has been in her career.

Bill Russell with the Celtics. Might still have been their best player in 1967-68 (first of two years as player-coach). Lenny Wilkens with the Sonics in 1970-71 was still their best player (although Spencer Haywood....)

Ty Cobb from 1921-25 with the Tigers.
          Tris Speaker.

          There are others (Cap Anson?)

          1. Not the best player on the Lynx or Gophers? I was assuming she'd probably be the best on the Gophers. I don't know who the players are, so there could be a future Whalen-type on the team but guessed the odds were against that.

  10. Joe Mauer first 9 games in 2017 - .188/.257/.188/.445
    Joe Mauer first 9 games in 2018 - .387.525/.516/1.041

  11. Spooky, are you working tomorrow? What is "High Dynamic Range" and is it worth $200?

    1. It’s worth more than that. 4K is more pixels and HDR is better pixels. Wider color gamut and deeper contrast. To take full advantage, the content has to be shot or rendered in HDR. (Most new 4K content is)

      I do work tomorrow 10-6.

          1. I’ve done that plenty of times at the BBY near my house. Thankfully those sets are outside of my future price range so I can appreciate them for what they are.

                1. I have a Sony 55X930D. The only other panel I considered at the time was the C series LG OLED. Now Sony has an OLED that I would have considered for sure as well, but it didn’t exist when I bought mine.
